How much water is too much?
    #13041887 - 08/12/10 02:37 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Been spraying my brf cake ever 3 hours or so. I started out just lightly misting but it always seems way too dry. Last 4 days i have been misting heavily, prob 4 or so sprays and have since got around 30 pins that are doing awesome. Is this way too much water? Cake seems fine and doesnt bruise any after these heavy mistings.

from my experience the more water the better. i wouldn't waste your day on it. but of course don't flood it...

You want to let it get a bit dry, then thoroughly but gently rehydrate it.
If there's a divot in the top of the cake, you can gently fill that and let it soak in.

Awesome thanks guys. Thats exactly the way im doing it Doc. I have a sprayer that has a very fine mist so i dont have to worry much about damaging the cakes and i always leave a little puddle on top. Thats where my first pins started coming from, i think i have around 15 about half an inch just on the top. Im so damn restless waiting on them to mature lol.

Make sure you replace the water that they lose to evaporation and to the fruitbodies.
90% of the mushroom is water- if it is 5g dry, then 45 grams of water was in it.

Good, that's great. You don't want standing water either. Re-moisten them, but don't make them soggy.

This indicates you're getting adequate fresh air exchange.  Since they're pinning, everybody is happy, so keep it up with the misting schedule.  Don't ever fix what isn't broken.
