always one more question

ok. humor me for a second. Let's say; I took a center sample of a freshly harvested fruit and put on agar. used 3 or 4 plates to get a good clean sample. put this clean myc into a syringe and injected wbs. spawned wbs to coir and verm. Fruited.
1. what exactly have I grown?
2. I believe this to be not a true isolate but merely an isolated clone of the original fruit. is this true?
3. this will help to produce a more even pinset and better harvest as well as (hopefully) quicker grow times?
Agar is new to me but now that I have it and some fresh fruits available, I think this is what I'd like to try. If you know of any reading pertaining to this subject, I'd like to hear about it.

Or just toss a wedge of colonized agar in the grain. And it might or might not take multiple transfers to get a clean culture. I did it the first time on agar, even though I always failed trying it with LC.
1) Tissue clone 2) Closer to an isolate than spores are, but not necessarily a true isolate. 3) Generally yes, you will reproduce the same fruits over and over.

SOLD! I'm tired of week long harvests. Though numbers have been good so I can't complain.
This is the route I'm taking then, unless someone has better ideas? I like the wedge into grain idea. 1 less contam chance. how large of a wedge for 1/2 pint jar?

if unevenly timed pinsets is the problem you're trying to solve...
yes, what you are doing will help
but also is consistency.
if you crumble / spoon / mix your spawn and bulk, mix well. if you're the layering type, make even layers. (i'm a mixer! it's not a lasagna its a mushroom substrate!)
make sure the surface of your mixed spawn and bulk has an even consistency.
if you case, the same rules apply. an even casing layer, with an even depth.

A couple little pieces is all you need. I use half pints and pints and masters for g2g.

I'm a mixer and not a caser.

Bonus points: use your small jar to make Grain LC, then use it for g2g as well.

You could even just throw a tissue sample straight into a grain jar to get a clone and then do what Doc just suggested above too.
