PC Tamale style?

Id try this out myself but this is my first grow and I only have one spore print and bought a cheap PC from big T
The way tamales are cooked is in a big pot with the lid on and weights ontop of the lid. from my understanding the stuff inside the pot will be cooking under pressure of the weights.
This can be very usful for those not looking to invest in a PC. Ill leave this for someone to test out.

You will be surprised at what fungi will grow on, unless its intentional, then you will be surprised how everything but what you want will grow on it.

Could be very dangerous. Even if it isn't I'm not sure how well it would work for jars. Have you ever seen a pot boil over? Well the water gets everywhere and considering that it's very hot and rising in an upward motion while bubbling... well that to me seems like perfect opportunity for said water to seep up under your foil lids and do away with your perfect moisture content.
Also with no way to release pressure, it will continue to build and might even throw the lid off your pot at which point scalding hot water can be sent flying all over your kitchen. It's the fun kind of hot water, the one that instantly turns to steam when it hits you and leaves behind really awesome burns.
This is all just speculation based on logic and past experience. Having never seen tamales cooked this way, and having never attempted to PC jars this way I can only guess. Good luck to you if you try this.

welcome
thinking outside of the box is a good quality to have here.
but i suggest you stick to tried & true and work through a few successes before improvising.
we've already got methods for those who do not have a PC: the classic PF tek. anything else and you'll want to use the right tool for the job when it comes to sterilization. that tool is a proper PC.
good luck.

imagine this: pressure is weight applied on some surface. Your pressure cooker has very small weight, but how big is the surface its applied on? Extremely small.
So how much pressure could you get by weighting down a lid? Not much in my opinion. And how much pressure do you want in regular pot? Certainly not as much as in a pc. There is a reason pc's are so sturdy - made.
