Do I need a new casing mixture?

My problem is that when the cases flush, only the sides of the case produce mushrooms. No mushrooms grow in the middle of the case, why is this? the mix right now is 5050 peat and verm.

skip the casing. Spawn to manure, straw or coir and fuck thee casing layer.

are you using multi spore?
also i've heard that pins form on the edges because that is where the water evaporates from most.
maybe up the RH? good luck

That seems likely.

Coir or straw
Caing isnt done by ratio. A casing layer for cubes is usually under half an inch

How thick of a casing layer did you use?
What type of tray are you using? Clear or black?
Are you giving it enough FAE?
As truskool already said, you maybe better off without a casing layer.

1/4 inch is good as are the black containers. I say black because anything that lets light through (clear, white, etc.,) can cause side pinning.
FAE is fresh air exchange. Are you misting and fanning often enough?
You may be getting mushrooms only from the sides because theres not enough moisture. I've had this happen when I've become busy and neglected the trays.
Three to six times a day, fan, then mist, then fan again. Don't soak the cakes but keep them moist.
Direct fanning evaporates some of the moisture which triggers pinning.
Also, try some without the casing layer and see if you get different results.

If your having problems with casing I agree w/ the earlier suggestion to "fuck the casing layer and spawn to poo". Once you get this easier method down then you shld. learn how to case on the side and when ready integrate casing into your grows. Casing will yield more but not if you fuck it up. Then you'll just yield less than not casing at all.....
