Does that mean bacteria? The Rye,Verm(50/50 mix)Smells like fruit, flowers or something. Does Verm harbor bacteria,Fungus B/c I just added hot water to hydrate it, let it sit for like 2hrs. Figured thats the culprit, the jars smelled fine(neutral) before they were mixed with the verm.

Yes that smell usually means bacteria. You really should look into pasteurizing your casing material and add peat moss/hydrated lime to the mix.

I don't use a tek when I case. I simply mix together half vermiculite and half peat moss with a couple table spoons of hydrated lime. Bring that to field capacity and then pasteurize in bags/jars/tupperware. Have you thought about taking your rye and spawning it to a bulk substrate like coir or manure or straw? That would be the better route.

Of course you can. Most people use a very large pot. No pressure is needed to pasteurize, because you want your temperature to be between 140F and 160F.

sweet smell means bacteria but unless it halts growth don't sweat it. I've had plenty of tubs that had a funky smell for a while that went on to pop out lbs.
unlike mold, bacteria isn't really a concern unless, like i said, it's stopping myc growth.
I've never done any research on it, but I've even noticed larger yields from spawned tubs that had a little bacterial issues..perhaps they are munching up the substrate and making it easier for myc to digest? iunno..
