Dunking bulk (trays) idea.

Here is my idea to "dunk" multiple trays. I have a lid-less 30 gallon drum that has a faucet on the bottom of it. I wanted to know if I put my colonized substrate in the drum, filled it 3/4's with cold water in the shower, with the shower head trickling out into the drum, and had the faucet on the bottom of the drum turned open a small amount so some of the water was coming out of it? I would do this after the first flush for about 4-5 hours. This would hopefully be the same idea as people doing a monotub in the shower method.
Would this work not having to worry about "still" water for contaminants? How does anyone else drunk multiple bulk trays at one time?

I just pour water over the sub or around the edges of the trays then 24hrs later remove any excess moisture that wasnt soaked up by the substrate.

This is the thing I will have about 120 one quart trays. I have never dunked anything before so this would be my first attempt to help it after the first flush. My thought was to put them all in one container to make it easier and faster. The colonized substrate would be made out of WBS/Popcorn/Straw/Verm/Coir - mostly straw though.
I read that 24 hours is way too long and that most have had success with about 4 hours. Also RR has said in a few I read that letting it sit in "still" water harbor contaminants.
How many times have you done this method before? I intailly thought about doing the same thing but for less than 24 hours. Putting them in the 30 gallon drum in the shower to soaking and then emptying the water out through the installed faucet.

yeah the time of soak does depend on the sub used. for coir subs I go longer but with straw 4hrs is fine.
I dont mass dunk cuz if 1 sub has contams the rest will, being in the same water.
if you cover your dunk container with a lid then your still water wont contam unless you sneeze, cough in it or handle your stuff with dirty hands.

These are two very useful things and reasons I haven't seen much to what I thought of doing. Thanks!

Yea sounds good, just I have what I have... haha. In the future I will see what comes after moving away from smaller-sized bulk, to larger-sized bulk.
Would you do the same as well? As in just fill the trays with water and leave them for 4hrs, drain, and await the second flush?
