New drying chamber idea

I was looking through my garage the other day while it was getting a MASSIVE overall cleaning, and found a bunch of neat little containers.
I can't find a pic anywhere online of what they look like, and I can't find my camera's battery charger. So I'll try and describe it as best as possible.
It is a conatainer that has two pieces. The bottom is connected to the other piece by a plastic hinge. I think they are normally used to put craft supplies in. The top container itself is approximately 18" across and about 8" tall.
The bottom storage section is about 2" tall. My idea is to drill holes all along the bottom of the top section and then fill the bottom with Damp Rid.
The design looks pretty good to me, because I won't have to worry about my shrooms touching the desiccant at all, and cleanup will be easy. I'll get pics of the thing posted as soon as I either find it online or my camera is charged again.

You want small holes in whatever is holding the desiccant so that the water falls out. I haven't used commercial drying agents (I work in a lab, its easier to grab something here), but with CaCl, I ran into a problem where the excess water left the desiccant and then dissolved it.
Might not be an issue with Damp Rid and if its not then it sounds like a good chamber, but something to keep in mind.

Even if it did dissolve the damp rid (which I believe is still CaCl), would that be a big issue? Granted I may have to refill that portion of the container again, but it's only 3 dollars for a big bag, and plentiful in my area.

go to a craft or pet store and get some silica beads w/ color indicating beads. the color beads turn from blue to pink as they absorb water, when theyre pink toss them in the oven @250 and dry them, use em again! that alone makes it 10 times better than damprid, in my book. buy it once, use it forever.

You can use damp rid then, but leave like a quarter cup out in a container for a day or so and you'll see what I mean. Its not so much a problem that I lost all of my desiccant, but its something that requires extra work. CaCl dissolves in water pretty readily.
Alternatively, those silica things work nicely. I also use those in my lab for humidity control in the summer and they are easy to re-use and at least in my experience, do not dissolve readily.

Don't use heat, just dry at room temperature. Heat can make your funguys less potent. (I've heard)

His doesn't use heat. It's just moving air. But it's the baddest drier I've ever seen. For real jokefox, I'm just gonna stop by and load up my van. LOL j/k if I could give you 5 shrooms I would, just haven't been here long enough.

Heat created from drying devices such as a dehydrator won't ruin the alkoloids you need a higher temp from something like a flame, speaking of which a 40 dehydrator from walmart is amazing investment with the racks provided they are apable of getting a qp cracker dry in 24 hrs, that and my butane torch, and hole saw bits, are probally my favorite three investments under 50
