Base Icks said: I've gathered that jalisco is not the most notorious sclerotia producer.
You know, I have heard rumor of this as well.
Searching the forum did not produce a definitive answer.
As usual, "job #1" is getting prints, and I will have nine jars, if all goes well, so I see no reason why I cannot experiment.
Thank you for taking the time,
JD

you need a guinea pig Breakfast Crew to experiment and find out the potency variation
LOL!
Ah...Style!

Here's my experience on the matter (on a scale 1-10 10 being the best):
P. galindoi/ATL#7 - stone production 7 - fruit production 8 P. mexicana/Jalisco - stone production 2 - fruit production 9 P. mexicana/A - stone production 10 - fruit production 1 P. tampanensis - stone production 5 - fruit production 9
In other words if I'd want sclerotia only, I'd go with mex/A. If I want the best over all stone/fruit producer, gotta go with ATL#7. Tampanensis being my second choice. With the mex/Jalisco got very few stones but fruited beautifully.

Thank you Stonesun!
I guess that I have fruits in my future.
Can I leave them until they start to fruit in the jar?
How long?
Again, thank you for the time,
JD

It will not fruit in the jar. You're gonna have to case the substrate. You can case the fully colonized rye, or you can spawn it to coir and/or horse manure. Use pasteurized 50/50 or seed starter/jiffy mix to case it. Employ a thin casing layer. Put it in your favorite FC, and be patient.

Right....standard approach.
I guess that I was trying to get at how long can I leave the jars to colonize? Is trying this going to improve my sclerota odds?
I will likely case the grains directly. My spawn skills are still in the works. ...and prints for future activity are goal #1.
Thank you for taking the time,
