Question about surface area

Alright, I have a monotub that developed a little spot of trich in the middle after the first flush. So i cut the trich out of the middle just to see if it would get rid of it and since i only have one tub going i am not worrying about other tubs getting it.
So in the middle of my tub there is a hole that goes all the way down to the trash bag liner. The second flush is coming in (with no signs of trich) and it might be a little larger than the first flush. But the most fruits are on the walls of the hole that i cut. It is a damn canopy there and they are growing sideways and completely covering the hole.
Because of this, i think i might try something to see what happens. On my next tub, even though it isnt contaminated, i might cut a hole in the middle, about a 6 inch circle, and transfer that to another tub with perlite to fruit. So I am wondering, if I will pull more dry weight, because i theoritically have more surface area for mushrooms to fruit, and the heaviest amount of fruiting will be where i cut the hole because i guess the humidity is a little higher below the surface area in the hole.
So with the first flush from the tub with the hole cut into it, and the second tub with perlite and the piece i cut out, i believe i will get more mushrooms. Just a thought and i figured why not try it. Any other growers done anything like this or have any thoughts about my experiment?

i dont like the idea of digging into my sub, destroying the mycelial networks that have formed. if you want more surface area, do cakes.

I have wondered about making a bundt-cake shaped bulk block.
-------------------- You make it all possible. Doesn't it feel good?

I didnt want to cut a hole in my substrate. I cut the hole in the substrate to try to rid the trach and just to try to get a small second flush out of it but when the second flush was more prolific than the first, figured might as well try it and see

i have done cakes using WBS spawned to coir and such but did it to large glad containers and put it in a tub with perlite and the flushes were good, but i always had a lot of shrooms growing out of the bottom of the cake and they were hard to pick because i had to pick up the giant cake (which was hard without damaging other mushrooms) and the mycelium attached itself to the perlite, but the flushes were always good.
