Placed contams outside...is this the start of some Mycelium im seeing?
    #13030980 - 08/10/10 09:57 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

so after a bulk grow went bust due to a bulk to spawn ratio that was less than optimum (not enough spawn, had too much time for contams to take over, the contaminated mess was simply buried outside and covered with a little bit of the surrounding dirt and then some sticks/grass/leaves to hold in some moisture.

i just checked on it today and noticed a patch of it was slightly lighter in color, its just a little hazy but i was wondering if this is the myc starting to colonize the surface.

if so any tips? or just let nature take its course, its been ridiculously humid and hot out here all summer...the mushrooms in the grass have been flushing like crazy so im hoping this is the start to a bit of good luck for me haha!

I dunno where you have it, but I'd put some shade over it as well...I might be wrong but I think direct sunlight is a no-no for outdoor growing...

Just an observation by an inexperienced eye; The ones that get totally neglected, the ones you find three months later by accident that you had no idea were even growing until you wander in the woods and see that the chunck of mycelium you tossed has consumed a couch. Those are the ones you want. Just my .02 but I wouldn't baby them too much.

I've read about these surprise outdoor gardens a couple times the last few days. I iwll defenetly be grinding my mycelia up to as fine powder as I can get and mix it with some dirt and what else? What could I toss there that would be good for my cubes to eat?

Yeah. If this strain survives contams, being buried and still fruits, you want this fucker cloned...

cow/horse manure worked well for me.  if only the damn slugs wouldn't have eaten most of em. you will definitely have more success if you actually tend to your patch though
