Help with sterilization (Cubensis)
    #13029706 - 08/09/10 11:35 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Whats up shroomery, i recently had started my own project with some amazonian cubensis, i had pulled out my pressure cooker and set it in my kitchen to cool down, after sitting for a few hours my son ended up opening the cooker to where the lid was half off, he did not touch them he just looked inside and left the lid off for about 15 min, the inoculation holes are small and there was foil some what tight over the lids, so i went ahead and inoculated in hopes that there were no contams from it being open. its day 3 and no sign of contam or mycelieum in one jar it almost looks foggy in some spots. Do you think any of my jars will colinize. Thanks

P.S i used a vermiculite brown rice substrate

look into making proper lids
with filters and injection ports

but i dont see how it wouldent work

did you use a dry verm layer
is the foil off now,
if so did you put micro pore tape over the holes
or anything

lids with filter and injection port for BRF Jars? I don't know... I prefer the vermiculite barier, they seem to colonize faster with the holes open, and i don't see the need for a filter either.

For LC and Grain jars use filtered lids with injection ports for sure. they make life a lot easier. But for standard PF Tek BRF Jars... might be overkill.
