Not Airtight?
    #13027593 - 08/09/10 04:13 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

About 2 months ago I was given an eighth of dried cubes from a trusted friend. I put them in an air tight baggy (one of those that is like a zip-loc, but you can extract the air from) and put them in a desk drawer. I pulled them out recently to find that the airtightness of the bag didn't maintain its airtightness and at some point became non-airtight, though the bag remained closed. They smell a bit stronger than when I first got them, and they crumbled into small bits now which is making it difficult to tell if anything is on them.

I guess my question is, if they were cracker dry, how likely is it that they began rotting or growing mold in the bag? I can provide pictures, but like I said they are crumbled almost to powder so it is difficult to tell

If you are able to find a piece big enough to snap, and it snaps - they are good. As long as they are dry, no mold will grow on them. Although they might have lost a lil bit of potency just from being broken up to tiny pieces and exposed to air, but they will most likely be fine. Just squeeze any more air out if you are gonna store them for longer than you have
