something for someone to try or talk about it if they have
    #1302424 - 02/12/03 12:31 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

hey i was reading a post and it suggested taking a ziplock bag a colonized jar and some regular substrate jars. pouring the substrate jars in the bag then put the colonized jar contents in the bag with the contents of the uncolonized substrate and you seal is poke a few holes and let it be so the rest can be colonized and then case. i was thinking instead of using a precolonized substrate just use the bag instead of a jar. you could use the brown rice flour and verm and put it in the bag and boil the ziplock bag to sterilize it then possibly inject the brf or open the bag and scrape some pores in and use the bag instead of a jar and then case what you have growin in the bag or use the bag like a grow bag and grow the shrooms in it. let me know what you htink and if anyone out there has tried it and what the results were

Maybe 1 out of 100 of your bags wont contam.

it sounds almost clever.
Problem is your bag needs to have exact moisture content.
And you cant expect to hit up the bag with just spores, maybe pieces of a cake, and youd need to use the (oven-tek).
Try Myco Bags or whatever the fuck there called.
Ive heard bad and good things about them.

It should work with Past. straw and/or poop.

If you try that with BRF, or grains it will contam.

i think it will work FINE as long as you dont handle the bags during colonization. i had a ziplock that i sterilized and inoculated it was doing very well but it like vaccume sealed itself haha. then i like tried poking holes and then it got contaminated.

I plan on using Oven bags next i think the seals will be a bit better. befor i sterilize it im gonna cut a small square and cover it with 3M micropore tape, on the inside and outside. Ziplocks should work fine except the seals i believer are a bit weaker.
