yeah but germany never tried to attack us at that point.....Isn't that the same as the situation we're in now with Iraq?...Butting our noses where they don't belong.....
if saddam hussein was carrying out a systematic genocide, I'd demand and support any efforts to remove him. do you really think that we should not have entered world war two? do you really think that we should have allowed fascism to spread across an entire continent (and eventually, further), trailing genocide in it's wake? if so, i'd would suggest that that in itself makes you a nazi.

When exactly did you ever bail out europe? In the first world war you were 3 years late, in the second you were 3 years late and it took Germany declaring war on america to get you involved. By 1944 the Russians had the germans on the run so America helped launch a desperate invasion to try and grab some of Europe before the russians drove the germans into the sea.
Maybe that's Bush's philosophy. Three years late for the last two world wars but he really wants to be on time for the third...

uhh no, Russia wanted us to help them on their front, but instead we wanted to land on Normandy and open a new front to crush Germany from all over. The US freed the French, shit if it weren't for the US then Europe would be a Nazi Empire.

No, the russians were rapidly advancing into Europe. The US panicked that if they didn't invade Russia would control all of Europe. They certainly didn't need any american help by 1944, the germans were in headlong retreat.

al. the first U.S. troops to enter the war arrived in britain on january 26th, 1942. at the time, the nazis were steadily advancing through the soviet union. it wasn't until february of 1943 that the germans were defeated at stalingrad and began to be pushed back. the U.S. entered the war against germany because their ally bombed us and they declared war on us. the united states did not enter the war to prevent a future soviet domination of europe. that only became a goal later in the war.
i don't think your facts are completely correct. without the help of the united states, the axis powers would have won the war. however, as an america hater, this much you should agree on... we attacked them because they attacked us. we had no interest in saving europe from the totalitarian nazis, fascists, or soviets. we were not in it to save the jews. we "stayed out of their business" as long as we possibly could. had we not been attacked, hitler would have won, murdered an entire race of people, and established totalitarian control of europe, africa, and much of asia. japan would have conquered the rest of asia and australia. and we would have just watched. eventually, they would have come for us, probably by then armed with nuclear weapons.
it's a damn good thing we got in that war. we saved the world al.

I said D-day was about preventing future soviet domination. By 1944 the war was over with the Germans in headlong retreat. There's no question about that.

al, 13,600,000 russians soliders died in the war. not 30 million. and you do see the flaw in that sort of reasoning anyway, don't you? you don't win by getting killed. an incorrect and logically irrelevant statistic does nothing for your case.
historical facts are what you need to prove you're right, but i think you'd be hard pressed to find them. world war two was a close one. the russians did help alot, maybe without them, we couldn't have won. i'm sure that without us, they wouldn't have won either.

Thank you for shedding some light, but saving the Jews was a goal of the US, but instead of bombing the camps and killing Jews in the process they focused on the invasion of Normandy and then when everything is clear save the Jews. But that was a goal, just not a huge priority.
