outdoor grow in texas right now?
    #13019296 - 08/07/10 09:52 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

i should have about 20 brf cakes fully colonized in about a week, (despite 2 lost to trich) and i was thinking about following moes outdoor tek (http://www.shroomery.org/8494/Moes-Outdoor-Growing-Tek) to start a little patch in the backyard w/ a few of them. the temperature during the day around here stays at about 100F if not a few degrees higher or lower pretty much 10am-7pm and starts to cool off to about 85/90F at night. good idea or waste of cakes?

and also, if 2 of my jars were contamed in the same incubator as the rest of my healthy ones showing 4 large spots of myc in all of them, do i need to clean out my incubator and move them? or does it really matter because in 5 days most of them are already showing quick growth (cambos)

keep in mind this is my first time cultivating anything so any responses are helpful

You don't need an incubator, you're just asking for contam issues. Room temp on a shelf.

Also, as far as outdoor cakes... just plant them in a shady humid spot, don't try to build an outdoor bed with cakes.
I tip a trash can over mine.

niiice! the only reason i incubate them is to keep them hidden. (in a plastic storage box with heating pad/towel on top which i recently removed.)

and as far as an outdoor bed, you also live in a cooler climate than me, i figure that would effect it because it gets FUCKING HOT and dry here. I can't use BRF cakes for outdoor beds? what did you use?

You can chop the brf cakes up into a bed of manure or straw.  Keep it shaded very well or it will cook.  If necessary, lay a flattened out cardboard box over the bed to keep it cool.  The ground won't be quite as hot as the air, so your temps will be OK, considering cubes are native to texas.  I spent two decades just north of the red river in shitlahoma and always had an outdoor bed going.

Listen to the man.

I lived there and managed to keep this going with minimal effort, if any at all.

Is the temperature above the 100's for you as well?

I have spawn stored in the fridge for when the weather cools down.
