slow casing colonization question
    #1301198 - 02/12/03 12:35 AM (20 years, 11 months ago)

i made 2 casings 3 days ago
i haven t got foil so i use saranwrap
i mix the grains with sheep dung and horse dung peat verm groundlime
i put the grains at bottom ,very thin layer and the substrade is 1.5 inch
27-28 c my temps
my asking is very simple
does the speed of colonization of the substrade has got a relationship, with the nutrients in the substrade ?

its 40*60 big casing
2 times saranwrap and 12 holes like 0,5cm diameter
is it too much ,have i got a lack of air exchange?

Well, I haven't been around very long, but I can tell you one thing which you are guaranteed to hear in regards to this situation: *wait*. 3 days is not enough time to judge anything.. especially the colonization of a casing..

As far as nutes in the substrate, common sense would tell me that yes, more nutritious substrate would be colonized faster, if only because the mycellium would be that much stronger.
