Irie, Does or has anyone grown out Anadenanthera colubrina??? I'm finding that they have a tendency to grow prostrate! Got one that's about 12ft tall and if it wasn't tied to a stake it would run on the floor! I'm gonna have to find a longer stake soon and a ladder to tie it! I have a couple that I've just planted in the ground that had been topped (by accidents), so I see if they do the same thing too! Just wondering what others experiences are?? Respect Z

You must live near the tropics. I would like to grow anadenanthera colubrina or a. peregrina. If only I lived in a warmer climate it would be a possibility. Nice trees by the way.

mine do that as well...i was wondering the same thing, the stems are pretty weak. the only think i have though of is maybe the rich moist soil isnt so great for it after all as they dont seem to like it naturally as much as that grassland stuff. mine are only 7feet, but they damn near lay down

Stake it and grow as a tree. I have one and it's really beautiful and the shade is gorgeous. If you want to grow it as a bush then cut it doen to the stump and then it will regrow as a bush - like many trees. Do it late in winter. Continue to water, etc, the tree stump/roots contain enough energy for it to live if treated right.

did yours lean as well? does the floppy behaviour correct itself when older when staked?
i got pissed at mine today and told them, you wanna lean then enjoy the fucking ground. you wanna be higher than the morning glories, figure it out.
my plan is to let them straighten themselves, im not sure if this is the best plan, but i hate playing daddy for more than 2 years...
