I was wondering the same thing. Can I just let water run down the side of the bottle, so that it rest in the bottom four little holes, beneath the paper towel?
Also, I have almost 20 shrooms on my cake, all just starting, all looking pretty healthy. Could I have so many because my temperature is low? Should i raise the temperature, or just let them grow?

I just started the same setup only cause thats all I need, but try perlite instead. It's only like two dollers at the most so use that.

Well to get humidity in my poor man's tererium today, I poured water down the side of the soda bottle, and let it collect ( a little) in the bottom of the bottle below the paper towel. So basicly, its like the paper towel is supporting the cake above the water. Does anyone know if this is okay? How else could i wet the paper towel wet?
