Anyone looking for a nice set of kitchen knives?

I was just checking woot today and saw that their sister site sellout.woot has a pretty damn good deal on some kitchen knives.
It's a 7 piece Shun Ken Onion brand knife set with a wood block for $400. Not bad considering that set usually runs around $700. I bought my parents 3 Shun knives for Christmas and they are SCARY sharp. Like sushi knife sharp. They keep an edge forever too as long as you treat them well and don't do stupid shit like using a glass cutting board or putting them in the dishwasher. They're weighted pretty well too. If you don't like knives on the heavier side you may not like them too much, but I think they're the shit. I'd definitely buy them if I had the money.
Just figured I'd throw that one out there.
Any other fellow wooters on the Shroomery?

You just made a new one... That's a great site. I wish I had some extra knife money laying around right now, but I have to buy two digital HPS ballasts or I don't get to flower this month.
I'm not sure if you're into outdoorsy shit, but these guys and their sister sites are awesome...

Not really a wooter but those are some sweet ass knives. We have a few Ginsu that are still pretty sharp after 15 years but I think that set would look very attractive on my fake marble counter top.

Yeah they're some sexy knives, very solidly built. I used them to cut sushi one time and I could cut a piece of salmon into almost paper thin slices.
scienceguy: yeah, woot is a bad ass site. One deal a day and quanities are limited so sometimes they sell out if it's a ridiculously good deal, but they occasionally have some good stuff. I check it every morning to see if they have anything good, even then sometimes they are sold out of things by 9 or 10am EST.
I bought the Acer Aspire One that I'm using right now from woot for $230. It's a refurb but it has worked flawlessly.

Word, I've bought a lot of shirts from them. They use high quality shirts (American Apparel I think) and $10 with free shipping ain't bad at all. It's also a new shirt every day over there, but they tend to be pretty girly or cutesy shirts if you ask me. Take a look at the Reckoning, it's their top 20 shirts. They cost $5 more but it's worth it.

I was house sitting for someone who had a nice set of knifes, I think it was wustof, and they were dull as fuck
I have wustof knives and I keep them sharp. I can't stand dull knives, and I really enjoy a well weighted sharp knife as it cuts through something.

I dont care for the position and feel of the knives, I have a 10" lamson (not lamson sharp)that does 90% of my kitchen work including filleting fish, I can cut tomatoes, meats, virtually anything paper thin and still shave with it after wards because shaving before butchering is just gross
I really dont care for the feel of many of these newer ergo handles
my knives are mix/match because I base it on the use and feel

Do you also bite it before diving into a moat or some other manly woodsman activity?

Non-dishwasher safe knives would be a turn off.

Strange. Woot is my 1st stop every day and I saw, at 5 AM, (and still am seeing) a 4 piece steak knife set.
Love the Woot-offs but have never scored a bag of crap. Came close, but you know what they say about close...........

Do you mean the entire woot site/business was bought by Amazon? I know that sellout.woot merged or was bought by Yahoo!, but I had no idea about Amazon.
I'm a big fan of wootoffs too, so many things so fast. If I have nothing to do I'll keep checking it for hours. I ALMOST got a bag of crap but their server was so bogged down that I missed it by a few seconds. Those bastards!
Pris: Where can I find a decent wetstone for sharpening knives? I have an oil stone now that works quite well, but it's a pain in the ass to have to use the oil everytime I want to sharpens a knife.
