Buying a Vaporizer, which one is the best?
    #13007940 - 08/05/10 03:20 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

I am looking to buy a vaporizer after this year's harvest, and just wondering what people think are the best.  I have been looking at getting a volcano but before I invest $500, just want to get some feed back from this knowledgable community.

I am not sure what is "best". But I am sure that these people know way more then I do.

There's no one "best" vaporizer, it will all depend on your individual usages/preferences.

If you head over to FC (the link Vapor provided) and spend time their reading all the threads, you can't make a bad decision.

I didn't like my Extreme Q.  You have to pack a joint worth + into it for it to work good.
I like th Magic Flight Launch Box.

The Launch Box can be good if you have the right batteries, it's a pain in the ass how batteries actually have tiny differences in size... besides my 2 original ones, all the new ones don't form a tight connection.

I rarely use mine though, the hit just isn't big enough :vaped: It does get use still at family gatherings.

You can pack just the screen in the elbow of the whip and get 2-3 huge milky hits

I watched the Volcano video and they put a lot of herb into the smoking part.  I was wondering, can you put a binger or small bowl pack in it, or do you need to use a larger amount of herb?

You can put any amount in (ideally you want to cover the screen), that being said the Volcano is one of the worst choices for small/solo users.

IMO the best vapes for small users are the "log style" vapes like the Purple Days/Purple Days Pandora, the Myrtlezap and the Woodeez.

Haven't used the MZ or WZ, plenty of positive feedback though.

I used a Purple Days daily for ~12 months before I switched over to vaporbongs... very awesome unit, built like a brick, dead simple to use and I was able to get 15+ hits out of 0.1g

I appreciate chubb, I have never really used a vaporizer, i love solar smoking because the taste is the best and the smoke last so long.  And Im a Roor person (German only), and everyone says that vaporizers give the best taste, and stretches your herb longer, so before i drop a bunch of money on one, just need to educate myself a little bit

Yep Vaporgenies do work, it was my first vape and treated me well :vaped:

Main downside is inhaling the flame + a hard learning curve... it is without a doubt the hardest to use of all vaporizers. That being said, most non-retarded people seem to get a solid hang of the technique after 5-10 bowls.

Upsides, cheap, portable and only requires a Bic.

It also can give EXTREMELY large hits with a skilled user that are just as large as electric units.

As for the Glass Vaporgenie, I haven't used it personally but all my vapor friends that have used both all agree that the glass unit has a better taste/easier to clean along with the ability to produce larger hits (bigger bowl).

Yes it works fairly well for a 50 vape the pack size is about equal to a personial bonghit. The glass one witch looks to be a bigger pack I think runs around a 100 $ or so but for the money I think it is worth it So yeah if you want a vaporizer its worth it. Hits hard enough and gives you that clean vaporizer high

Volcano all the way... but I'm biased.

They all basically do the same thing, get something reasonably priced but not cheap. Shit, the money you'll save on bud in the first month alone will make it worth the extra ca$h.

What you taste is the good vapor and bad vapor, diluted with a fucktonne air all mixed together in a plastic bag

Bag vapes inherently taste shitty by design, it's not a Volcano specific thing.

For some reason the OP has ignore the Fuck Combustion link and decided on a Volcano, oh well, bad mistake IMO.

If you compare a direct draw vape like a Vriptech VHW (100% glass airpath) in a taste test against a Volcano, they're not even remotely close and the Volcano tastes like trash.

The Volcano IS the best bag vaporizer, the Extreme will not blow bags as good as the Volcano and the valve systems on the Volcano are by far the best.

The Volcano has it's place, you just have to figure out whether the unit matches up to your style of usage and whether the pricetag is worth it.

Volcano is best for people that LOVE bags, vape in large groups, using reasonably large amounts.

The Extreme is probably the best vape to get for a 1st time user that doesn't really know what they like... get to play with bags, play with whip, mess around with fans and digital temps... then when they go and buy their next model they will know exactly what they want.

Ohhh, vapes and hash don't tend to work that well... I believe the Vaporgenie is still the preferred vape for hash, nobody really does it.

Kief works good if you sandwhich it between bud layers though.

I've got the older version of the Extreme and absolutely love it, it's cheaper than the Volcano too. They company is great to work with and you can buy any spare parts if your unit breaks from falling over or something. They throw in some extra parts when you buy it too. Plus if you've got a Glass on Glass bong it uses 18.8mm joints so you can take vapor bongrips :vaped:

goddamn, unless you're getting a sick vaporizer like a volcano or a portable one i don't think you can top the vaporstar piece

attaches to your bong, can take like 10 seconds to load and 15 seconds for it to start vaping

The vapor star website says that the star that heats up is steal but it never mentions the rest of the metal. I would still go with a Extreme Q.

The Vaporstar is a quality product, good company and the materials are safe... it's essentially a VG that plugs into a bong.

Still, I would rather have the lights, fan, bag, whip, remote, adjustable temperature, and different bowls then just a bong attachment.

Indeed.

Once you go to a full size home unit nothing else compares but it's nice to have a few lighter/portable based vapes for those rare occasions.

Plus some people like testing out vapes for $50-$80 rather then jumping straight in for $200.

That's why I want to go to the BCMP Vapor Lounge. You can rent a Volcano for $5 and smoke in peace. They even have a concession, comfy couches and big screen TV or two.

Perfect!  We couldn't decide what to get.  I have been wanting to get a vape for a Looooooooooong time now and J wants to get a new glass bubbler.  A wee bit strapped for cash ATM so we thought we could only get one.

But this looks promising.....and cheap!  Thanks!!:awesome:

OMG!!  How did you know that I can't see the top right hand corner of my screen!?!  What is a UTSF???  Hmm...never heard of that.  Well, I am glad to know that it's there.  All this time I just thought that the guys who set this site up were complete baboons!!

But, since I can't SEE the upper right hand corner of my computer monitor, I guess I will just have to go around blindly stumbling upon threads I desperately need, like this.

Thanks for the advice though! :awesome:

 im still undecided on which vaporizer im going to buy, i like the thought of a volcano because i can just fill up a bag and wander around with it, and it would also make it easier if i want to share my bud with people.

but i read somewhere that you need to fill the chamber with 0.5 gram of bud:confused:

can you not use smaller amounts than that, it only takes about 0.3 grams of good bud to get me high when i smoke:rolleyes:

I am not sure about the amount that is required but you get more then 2 bags from a bowl when you vape usually (temperature also effects this). Smoking you are done right away.

Have you looked at the Extreme Q ?

It has a bag and a whip. It is also a lot cheaper then a Volcano.

Here is a fifty page thread all about it,  on a website all about vapes.

Check it out: http://www.herbalaire.com/

About 5 years ago, I paid $540 to have a Volcano delivered to me. It's been through hell and back through thousands of fills, and still produces quality vapor every time. Every single person who has ever inhaled from it says it's the best they've had, even people who own other vapes... It has never let me down and I wholeheartedly endorse the product.

The ONLY real drawback is the price, but I don't mind paying for quality.

In fact, I'll probably be buying a second one soon. :volcano: :volcano:

You fill the bag, and then press the easy valve against the downstem. Done.

It's nice, but not needed... Volvano vapor is already cool and clean.

The Arizer Extreme is a very good vape.
If I had the money I would have bought one by now.
I tried the 200 dollar model (without the bag) and it was simply wonderful.
I highly recommend it.

I've also heard real good things about Arizer Extreme.. I'd get that, as you get a lot more for $300 than an overpriced volcano.

Unless you smoke weed all day everyday, a Volcano is a waste of $$..

Vaporizers shouldn't cost more than $300

Possible, but there are reasons to spend more on certain things...

I just had a few negative experience with whip vapes and some older ones, and I've only had 100% positive experience with my Volcano. If the difference of $250 and $500 is that much of a problem, maybe the person needs to reconsider his use of drugs.

yeah idk lol, I can't speak for other people.

As for me though, if I were to smoke weed everyday I'd probably be a useless wreck. For those who can function great on weed, I suppose a volcano would be a smart investment.

the extreme looks a bit delicate to me:shrug:

the volcano looks like it could handle the odd knock. its a choice between the SSV and volcano for me.

i like the thought of consistent vapor from the volcano, and there is a learning curve to hitting a whip vape, and i dont think i could regulate my inhale with a whip vape when im too baked.

im not worried about forking out £300 for something if it lasts me 5 years, and im most likely going to buy the ssv in the future anyway:awebig:

Volcano's are the best bag vape, but are not very versatile, and are certainly extremely overpriced.

The Extreme isn't any more delicate than any other vape.  Where do you even get that idea?  It's amazingly solid construction, metal outer shell, looks no different than a Volcano in that sense, and all parts are replaceable for CHEAP.

Exactly

The Volcano isn't anything special... it's a heater, a fan and a bag system.

I hate bags, the vapor is thin and the taste is sub-par.

All the advantages of a heatgun without the drawbacks (big, spastic and loud ).

5 dollar vape.  Works fucking awesome, even without the towel.  Great for oils, hash, and keif, but plant matter is good too.

you have the money for this vaporizer.

Dammit, if those pipe fittings cost 40 bucks a piece and you could only order them from rastavapeparts.com and they were made of stainless steeluminum, you'd all think this was the coolest shit ever...  Since you can steal the shit at Home Depot, everyone assumes it's not that great.  This vape works way better than 5 bucks, really.

I have a vapor bros. wood box that's been a good vape, and I like the versatility it offers with smoking other herbs, but the vapor that comes out of the 5 dollar vape is seriously great vapor, with a fantastic taste.

I know it might look kinda :meff:, but the idea isn't to look fancy, it's to do drugs... or is it?

i think all vapes have different pros and cons for different people. ill probably buy the volcano first and then purchase the SSV a few months after.

best of both worlds :awebig:

If you're a solo user, go the SSV first.

If you have big stoner parties, the Volcano would be the best bet.

It's toooooo easy.  Changa or straight, the key is the easiest way to use dmt I've come across.  I've never burned a hit, and with about 7-10 screens jammed in the bottom part, your spice just melts into the next, slightly hotter screen, then vaporizes.

I originally built one for that, and it worked so well that when I made some hash oil and didn't have a great way to use it, I made another key for weedstuffs.  It's one of the best way to smoke hash/hash oil I know of.
