Flow hood in bedroom or bathroom?
    #13003623 - 08/04/10 08:04 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

My bedroom has carpet floors and my bathroom is cleaned/disinfected
once a week except for the shower. I was wondering which of these
is the better choice do my work in?

Just in case it matters

Bathroom: 7.5 x 11
Bedroom: 10 x 13

I would do bedroom as that is my personal preference with a glove box.

I don't like the idea of "shit particles" floating around in the bathroom even if it is disinfected.

my vote is bedroom as well. Then you don't have to keep moving it. And visitors aren't like "what the hell it that?"

My vote is the bedroom is for the simple fact you don't poop in your bedroom.  Even if you clean your bathroom every week or twice a week it is still loaded with bacteria and nasties..

Definitely the bedroom and not the bathroom.

There are millions of shit spores floating around in your bathroom. Each time you flush the toilet they get spewed out and land every where...the counter, the floor, the ceiling, the walls, the shower curtain, your razor, toothbrushes, etc.

I had my fruiting chamber in my bathroom closet for 6 months, and never noticed any detrimental effect on fruiting, thought at that point sterility isn't as important.

I believe he means a sterile area to inoculate. A bleached down bathroom would be better in my opinion, in a glove box. The carpets of a normal house harbor millions of bad things.

Dude all I have to say is get an agar plate and then swab your bathroom counter then the plate and watch how many nasty shit grows on that plate.

If your in a bedrooms the carpet doesn't matter because your not working on the carpet.

If there is not air movement in the bedroom all the nasties in the air will settle into the carpet.  Where in a bathroom when you flush the toilet you get poo particles all over everything.  Bathroom is the worst place to do sterile work at..

Bleach doesn't kill mold, nor does alcohol...just kills the spores.

And a bedroom whether it is carpeted or not is going to be cleaner then your bathroom.

We don't knwo wwhat this persons bathroom looks like.

Could be like mine and where my 2 cats have to share a litter box with my girlfriends 3 cats, then of course there's the human poo and it's spores, mold from not cleaning your shower tiles properly, etc.

There's four people in this thread voting he use the bedroom over the bathroom and one of them is a TC.I bet RR would vote bedroom over bathroom as well.

I thought it was going to be the bedroom but I just really
wanted to make sure the carpet wasn't going to be a big deal
with the slight amount of airflow.

Thanks everybody.

if you have a flowhood then there is nothing to worry about, whether carpet or 'floating shit particles".  bedroom is private and you wont have to move the FH all the time.

This is true, but I would still rather do so in a bedroom so as not to get those shit spores all over the FH's prefilter.

I was unaware that shit reproduced through spores...  I've never seen that happen.  Do you have to case it in order to get it to fruit more shit?

Okay smart ass, maybe I should have been more clear. There are plenty of pathogens in our and animals shit that can be harmful to both humans and animals.Mold spores will grow on this shit, those nasty spores would get all over the flow hoods pre filter.

Was that clear enough for you?!

Hahahaha.  I hope you at least smiled.  I knew what you meant, I just thought it was funny that there'd been so much talk of shit spores...

It's all good.  I posted that and thought I probably should have included a smiley or something so people didn't think I was being a dick.

I've been smoking hash oil and playing with my cat all morning, and feeling kind of mischievous.

Sorry about the 'tang...
