Don't forget the most expensive part, the pressure cooker. That's assuming he uses one and doesn't take the risky route of steam sterilizing.

Indeed! A PC!
Walmart has some 10 psi ones for $40. That is what I use. I always PC for a little over 120 minutes at 10 psi though.

The problem is finding a pc for that price that can fit quart jars. I recently found one on craigslist for $15, but it would only work for 1/2 pints, maybe pints, but definitely not quarts.

That $40 dollar 10 psi I mentioned above is an 8 quart. It is capable of holding exactly 4 quarts -nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah, I highly recommend ATL 7. They get much more potent at 6 months of age. I would suggest 6-8 jars. That should give you more than enough truffles.

You can turn a quart jarvsideways. Yeah it's slow, but works fine. 2-3 per day.

This is ridiculously inefficient. Do stones as suggested above.

also if you have any friends that don't go to the school that you feel you can trust you should consider giving them the cakes to finish fruiting with, perhaps with the condition of you getting half of what grows out for having done the grow process to this point.

by the sound of this thread starting over is no option in his mind, especially if he's ready to do it in a dorm. It would be a great move imo to cut your losses and start over there, many of us have been there and had to do it unfortunately
if anything this guy is going to end up growing more stuff now

true true.
I want to see how this turns out, if I were OP I'd start some stones now too after reading up, if you get caught with what he's got might as well get caught with some more
keep it discreet and don't do as I did driving across the state with a fruiting shotgun chamber in my trunk

I would just make mini single terrariums out of like 100ct CD spindles w/ lid (obvious) or two Styrofoam cups (dub cups) for each cake and then let them get some light for a couple hours a day. Or hell, change your light bulb out in your dorm and put in a daylight bulb and have them in a box high up so that they get light but you can't see in if someone happens to walk into the room. That person won't care about some box that is stored in a weird place in a dorm.

Lol, we all do dumb things when we first start out. In any case, I think he's going to fruit invitro and do stones as well.

Monotub? Made stealth with a bit of engineering, time, and money (maybe LED's off a few 9V's?) its a black rubbermaid with clothes/boxes/books on top that just so happens to disappear eventually. Obv not the best options, but just cutting 2-3 holes for FAE that will be facing a wall or something?

malarky, any cube will grow in the same parameters.
did you realize invitro kinda sucks? you have to dig them out and they've got verm stuck all in em. i bet you could fruit em stealthily.
