laundry rack at first....then i saw it...

i couldnt have been more surprised if a lady rose out of lake erie and handed it to me.

Most dehydrators get used 2-3 times, then put away. Used ones almost always work.

Mid-range is good.

Too bad it doesn't have a "Mushrooms" setting.

Why not just keep it at 85, maybe 95, to be safe.  Higher temp will dry faster but not that much faster right?

I like 125F. Usually gets them dry within half a day, potency loss is not an issue.

It's been debated. Heat isn't a problem.

I run my dehydrator at max, 160f and they're usually cracker dry in 4-6 hours depending on the RH.  They dry a bit faster in the winter :-D

No noticeable loss in potency.

They dry a bit faster in winter because there is less moisture in the air due to colder temperatures.

During the spring through fall months I have to run several dehumidifiers to keep the RH down to something sane but once it starts to get cold it drops lower then my hygrometer's can read unless I run humidifiers.

thanks guys, works fucking GREAT!!!
8 oz cracker dry overnight, except for a few of the biggest stems that were near the front.
i ran it at bout 130f almost the whole time. most of them were done (im sure) hours ago,
but i was sleeping, so i didnt check.

goddammit. i was drying a handfull of blueberries to try it out for food, and the heat stopped working.
the thermal fuse looks good. must be the thermostat?
excalibur isnt open weekends, but the website says they have 20 year old parts
laying around and thier technicians will walk you through any problems.
thermostat is $30 and if i need a new thermal fuse its only $10.
fan works fine. worst case scenario, i'll have to put another
$50 or so (with shipping) into it.

someone had the back of this unit off before, you can tell by the screws, theyre scratched up and werent
tight like i would expect.

in the end, $4 for an ed 600 was too good to be true, except for the 8 zips that went through it.

It'll probably do mushrooms without heat.
But I think you can fix it.
