Going away for 5 days, just birthed. [pf tek]

Hey all, first time poster and first time grower that would REALLY appreciate some insight!
Due to unforeseen circumstances I have to leave the house for about 5 days and I just birthed the cakes last night! They are almost done with the 24 hour soak and I have to be gone by early early morning tomorrow.
What can I do to make sure things go as planned while I'm away? I have set up my fruiting chamber and will be ready to mist/fan for a few hours right before I leave, but after that I won't have any way to keep resupplying moisture to the cakes. Is this maybe a beneficial thing that will slow down the process? I have to leave again for another three days the day I get back, and I'm fearing that after all of this perfect work and waiting that my project will fail!
the cakes are all already pinning and ready to go.

Well if you have a properly built SGFC you can leave them for the five days. The shrooms will not look the best or be the biggest but they will survive.

Check the cakes when you get back and see if they feel dry or noticeably lighter and if so dunk them again for six hours or so to replace moisture. Should work like a charm.

Pins mature in 3-7 days so I am thinking when you return you will have a bunch of mushrooms that might have sporulated by the time you get back

If you just birthed the cake I can imagine it would take at least a week just to see pins and another three to seven days for them to mature. If you return home and the pins are still small I would recomend a six hour dunk and the pins will be fine, but if there are clear mushrooms on there just let them mature and dunk after the first flush. Also, be sure to roll the cakes in verm and soak 'em down real good before you leave.

im in the same boat. mine just started pinning and im leaving tomorrow. alot of people have told me to fridge the cakes, or just dunk before you leave. im dunking mine so hopefully when i come ill have a nice flush. the only thing that concerns me is not having FAE.

What's FAE?
Almost all the cakes had pinning starting in the jars before I birthed. I am about to take them out of my dunk, I wish the timing wasn't so terrible!
I just realized it'll technically only be 4 days that i'm gone, but I've gotta leave a few hours after I get back. Here's to hoping theres a nice flush on sunday afternoon that I can maybe harvest, and dry while i'm gone

FAE is fresh air exchange. they need fresh air about 3 times a day cause co2 builds up if you dont and that can cause contamination. also can make growth look a little weird (bulky). but i think it will be good if you have lots of holes and good humidity.

This goes to both the OP and youradrag. If you guys are both using a shotgun FC, the kind with all the holes in it, then you should be fine with FAE. Also to relieve some of your worrying RR says the shotgun FC is designed to have little to no maintenance and he clearly states in his videos that he knows people who do nothing but dunk there cakes, roll them in verm, spray them once, and wait for harvest. Stop worrying about factors that you cannot control and all the information you need has already been provided in this thread.

AYAY
so i just got back and they are ready to be picked but now I have to leave for 3 more days!
can I just pick them and put them in the fridge in a paper bag and dry them out in 3 days or are these just failed mushrooms?
not sure how to delay the process..
or what to do with my cakes while i'm gone.
i'd love ANY input for this first time grow. thanks guys

After a flush, I usually lay mine out on paper towels and they dry in about 3 days. Don't know if I would put them in a fridge. Nothing seems lost.

Yeah just lay the shrooms out on a paper towel or on some newspaper and they will fine when you get back. If you have time before you leave go ahead and dunk your cakes for twenty four hours, I would normally say twelve but you are leaving again. Glad everything worked out for you, also dunk your cake again for a few hours when you get back if it feels dry or lighter than before.

you guys rock, thank you so much.
I'm seeing phish and I didn't plan the fruiting too well, should have started the colonization a little later so when I got back they were ready to be birthed. all mistakes are meant to be learned from!
most seemed to have sporulated in the past 24 hours, turning dark purple in some spots and only one mushroom's veil has broken. They stems are all fuzzy thought but I'm reading that that's not a problem.
thanks guys
