is there some sort of vicks cool mist humidifier tek somewhere? somewhere i can read all about how to implement a vicks cool mist humidifier... I have this fear that I would hook it up to a terrarium, and it would introduce contaminants all the time. What about placing it on a timer...is that difficult? is that necessary?

thank you for the reply...i read that link last night.. it doesnt say anything about a timer.. does that mean a timer is unnecessary? do you use a timer, anno?

well, he says to run it 24/7

but:

1) doesnt the constant airflow introduce airborne contaminants from outside?
2) wouldnt it be possible that there could be too much air exchange, or too much humidity produced by the humidifier for a particular setup?

My friends experience with a vicks coolmist was not good, it leaked water all over and was a pain in general.  He's found that with a big enough air pump one can achieve something similar in a much easier manner (his opinion).

Get a soda bottle or similar and make two holes in the cap.  Try to make the holes slightly smaller than the diameter of the pump tubing so it will make a snug fit.  Fill the bottle part way with water and run the tube from the pump through one hole and into the water.  Add an air stone to this tube.  Put another tube into the second hole but keep it out of the water.  This tube goes into your chamber and provides both humidity and air exchange.  My friend also dissolves some baking soda into the water, he thinks this helps filter the air.
