i wouldn't recommend it either, but a movie with a very crazy visual aspect is natural born killers. i would think it wouldn't be the greatest experience for you based on the super violent content, but whatever floats your boat.... it's my favorite movie ever

Actually I can agree with him on that. I've been into violent movies since I was real young, but something about watching something violent and agressive on acid sorta disagrees with me occasionally. Even on mushrooms it dosent bother me. Just cid.

Evil Dead is great for tripping. I watched the first Evil Dead after coming home and still tripping quite hard and watched it. Couldn't explain how I felt when the chick got raped by a tree :smirk: Haliriously warped.

If gore is the kind of thing you want to see, then watch Dead Alive (aka Braindead). It is the goriest movie you will ever see. The gore is overdone to the point of absurdity. It was directed by Peter Jackson who is directing the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I don't know how easy it will be to find them in the US, but Bad Taste should have a ugly looking "alien" on it pulling the fingers, and Meet the Feebles is basically the Muppets gone so horribly wrong.

Yeah, the whole negative vibe thing that horror movies puts out isn't my thing. I can be sprawled into a bad trip by watching some of the creepy shit on Ripply's Believe It Or Not, so when it comes to violence and gore (Which I do tend to enjoys when not tripping) I totally try to avoid it.

Another horror movie that comes to mind is American Werewolf in London. This movie gives me the willies! Mostly just the scene where the werewolf is howling like mad and they're lost in the mist. Creepy movie, and funny at the same time. The body count is halirious towards the end.
Texas Chainsaw Massarce could be interesting. I can be sure the chainsaw noises and constant screaming could get to you :grin:
One horror movie you haven't listed - Eraserhead! It's the most bizarre horror movie you'll see. It's not even convential horror; it's just down right dark, twisted, disturbing and gory. It's basically like a very bad nightmare.
Ooooh, The Blob remake would surely be fun to put up with. Some disgusting gut wrenching moments in there.

Watch Gumby....that clay-mation cartoon. OK its not a movie...but when I watched it on Shrooms...It totally wierded me out....I realized how it never makes any sense!Even when you're sober...it still doesnt make any fuckin sense at all. Watching it whilst tripping made me see how dark and bizzarre this eerie cartoon is...and just think...most people my age grew up watching this shit! As for movies...Watch "The Wizard of Oz", I swear to god man....that wicked witch of the west is not a joke when you're on shrooms.

Watch a horror movie called " Redneck Zombies", It has a part where one of the guys drops acid and the movie starts to trip.. Its a troma movie I think.

I'm real into psychological thrillers instead of overt horror movies, i would suggest watching Donnie Darko, Jacob's Ladder, the lost highway, and U-turn.....

I hell forgot how many of them there were until me and some friends went to OZ/Darkside at a local rep cinema last September.  Turned me into an instant Pink Floyd freak, too!!! :grin:

Agreed.  Disney's releasing 3 more titles from this director in mid-April.  Including my all-time favourite animation (and in my top 3 adventure movies, period) Castle In The Sky.
Definitely check that bad boy out!
Back on topic, horror movies that I've tripped out to with good results include:
Blair Witch Project (opening night on 1/8, I thought I died at the end)
Psycho (original)
Perfect Blue (anime, and a total mindf*ck)
Night of the Living Dead (original)
and I can't believe nobody's mentioned:
Frailty.
That movie is noots, with phenomenal scenery, and some good jumps.
And while it doesn't really qualify as a horror movie, Brazil is dark and lovely, a great future noir in the tradition of Blade Runner, crossed with 1984.

Brazil was a fairly trippy movie, but too dark, industrial and depressing for me (speaking of the origional version and not the edited for TV version.) Im not really into non-narritives like Brazil (I guess from just being brought up in western film culture.) It was a little too shifty and vague for me, I could just imagine trying to watch it on a drug.
My favorite movie so far on a psychadelic is What dreams may come with Robin Williams. Very deep and gives thought provoking ideas about the afterlife and strong relationships with family (you may just even cry like a baby ). Also very colorful and nice scenery. I'll have to go with Lord of the Rings also. You just can't beat fantacy at that level of accuracy and detail.

dud3, you are all forgetting the best one.... "The Exorcist" the version you've never seen... especially when she does the spider walk down the stairs and masturbates with the crucifix, and who can forget the crazy face appearing in the shadows... it's like a crack monkey or something.... but if you want a good laugh... watch sleepy hollow... i went on 6 hits of gel and i could not stop laughing... keep an eye out for the scene when christopher walken has the horse buck and turn around and there's lightning behind him and he shows his fucked up teeth... that's some funny shit.

I watched Se7en once, while on 5 hits of acid. Definitely not for the faint of heart :P

I LOVE American Werewolf in London! It's a great horror movie, and it's funny and really quite touching at the same time. The werewolf morphing effects are quite amazing considering when the movie was made.
Of course all Peter Jackson's old stuff is fantastic - if you like over-the-top gross out movies (and i mean REALLY gross - otherwise STAY AWAY!!), but I've never seen any of them tripping. They're not really umm.. standard.. choices as trip movies, but they're probably funny as fuck when tripping. :smile:
I don't know how people can stand to watch Apocalypse Now tripping. I know there are alot of very psychedelic elements to the film, but I am not at all squemish or easily offended but parts of that movie made me feel sick just watching it sober. It is an incredible movie though, that everyone should see at some point.
Your standard horror movie, however, is just pretty ridiculous and usually all in good fun, and they can be a real riot when tripping. :smile:

Definately watch the Cell if you're into horror flicks. I watched it on LSD and it was mind blowing - especially all of the scene changes travelling in people's minds. It's kind of disturbing though, lots of torture and struggling. Can get under your skin.

If I was doing a normal 1-2 tab trip, I might try watching horror movies (only watched one horror movie when I was coming down), but if I was doing huge psychedelic doses, I'll be outdoors with music for sure! :wink:

I've got some really freaky movies for you and I would not recommend them on shrooms. Too freaky. Except for second one and the last one.

The Entity. It is about an incubus (incubus means a demon who rapes women while they sleep or in this case, awake and they are brutal when they rape.) It is based on a true story. Freaky sober. I wouldn't wanna watch it tripping.

Ghostbusters. Now this is my favourite movie of all time. Great effects for 1984. Hell of a funny movie, but creepy and scary at points. Like when the demon dog appears after Dana Barret's kitchen door swings open and the chair grabs her and shows a close up of the dog. Red eyes, razor sharp teeth. Freaked me out sober. I wouldn't want to watch it tripping if my life depended on it. But other people would probably laugh at me when they see it, but it seriously freaks me out.

The Exorsist. I don't think I need to comment on how scary this movie is.

Ted Bundy Story. This is just creepy beyond anything. Twisted movie for sure.

Head. This is a movie made in 1969 by the popular 60's band The Monkees. It was written by them and JACK NICHOLSON while on acid talking into a tape recorder for days, and they turned it into a movie. Kinda fucked up at parts. I have watched this while tripping. Really fucked up but good to watch tripping.

The lead animator for that movie has done tons of films and they are all superb.  Make sure to get "Nausicaa", and make it the Disney version, since the others have cut out footage.

oh man, i've never watched a horror movie while tripping, but want to at some point. i love horror movies, they're pretty much the only movies i watch regularly.

the best horror movie to watch while tripping would probably be A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors. it's the one that's in 3d. i think that would be crazy with the 3d glasses on while tripping. there were parts of that movie that reminded me about tripping, just seeing some of the weird angles and stuff. i can imagine how cool it would look with the kid on top of the tower at night, and freddy above him with the marionet strings controlling the kid while overlaying the dark sky.

i can see In The Mouth of Madness being a good tripping movie, as mentioned before. Hellraiser 1 and 2 definitely.

there are some types of horror movies i would stay away from while tripping, like the texas chainsaw massacres, the re-animator, bad taste, anything really bloody wouldnt be good i think. most slasher movies wouldnt be good, but the ones with characters everyone knows, like jason, michael myers, would be probably be good.

i could imagine not understanding some of them while tripping. wondering why someone is killing all of these innocent(or atleast pretty innocent) people. it's easy now, they're just evil pretty much. but that's not an easy concept to get across while tripping, if you know what i mean.

i probably couldnt do it while peaking, i would most likely be more interested in the patterns on the floor than the tv, but while coming up or coming down i think it would be fun. last time i tripped i watched scream 3 on the comedown/when i was pretty much at baseline. i thought it was kind of hard to follow, especially because i hadnt seen it before.
