the interesting mutations thread
    #12986848 - 08/01/10 07:22 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Tho I am a first-time grower (or maybe because of it) I have experienced some really neat-looking mutations!  I thought I would share them, and invite others to do the same, just for fun!  Here are the ones I've had so far, and I will post more as my journey of fungal cultivation continues! <3

This is the mutation my avatar is derived from.  So cute! <3 (breed = B+)

I call this one 'Fat Man' (breed = Penis Envy)

Sorry, didn't see one dedicated to fun, only ones asking if it was normal.  I'll repost and delete this thread once I find the one you are speaking of. :frown:

lol, I got a few of the single gill curls too, not just on B+ but also on Malabar.  They look like a lamprey.  Or the proboscis of those scuttling impregnator things from Aliens.  Or a vagina...sorta.

Here's my latest, a tiny pair of pins growing off a full grown PE cap...reminds me of the mutant guy on total recall with a face coming out of his chest.  "Quade!  Open your mind, Quade!"

That is definitely not sword fighting, the hilt of one sword is touching the blade of another. That looks like two handicapped people trying to fence.

My best guess is that they pinned first and the larger mush pinned second directly underneath them, separated them from the mycelium and took them for a 'ride' if you know what I mean...

Oh one time I saw this funky mutation... a mushroom looked like a penis. Oh wait lol...

Are those truly "mutations?"

Mutation is defined as an organism that has characteristics resulting from a chromosomal alteration.  Do you think those mutations actually occur in the genetics of the mushroom or are they more on the physical side?

They are probably just deformities really, but calling them mutants in more fun, like a video game or something.

Those are all great pics folks!  Keep them coming!

Here we have a mushroom growing INSIDE of another .
Thanks to a tilt in growth it fell out of the substrate by itself. Turns out it was usually heavy for its size too!
As some of the cap accidentaly came off i noticed it had 2, aswell as 2 seperate veils
