don't use beer, it only increases oppotunities for contams. simply put the cbd in water & microwave for three mins. when cool, place the dot of cbd on the peroxidated agar plate, then streak the cbd with spores

do you know of anybody other than stamets reporting success in spawing wood chips only with colonized cbd?

So Azurescens spores will germinate on plain cardboard?

Have you done this yourself?

Why don?t you try different methods and see what works for you?

Because I've never done Azures before.

That wouldn't make any more sense than someone who has never done the PF tek trying it for the first time with jars of dog hair, and Moon Pie..

Some limited experimentation is a possibility. Like with beer and without beer. But I need to narrow my parameters as much as possible. There's no point in trying something that's never worked before.

Azure prints are fucking expensive too. I'm about to spend $100 on this project .

But you have done the PF-tek, didn?t you?

I?m just saying that it?s better to start several methods, since the likelihood of suceeding is greater this way.

Woudn?t you agree?

True, I'd like at least 3 variations.

One with small bits of plain cardboard, one with small bits of beer soaked cardboard, and I may try a couple jars of BRF/V.

I'd like to get a few good tubes for slants too. I may not be able to start a patch this year, but I'd at least like to have a good culture that would keep, and be ready to start one next year.

My cultivation options are pretty limited, possibly to whatever I can fit into a small desk drawer.

By far the easiest way to grow Azurescens without agar is by spawning wood chips with colonised chips. Its just a matter of adding the colonised chips to moist alder or hardwoods and watching it colonise.
Contaminants are not an issue because generally the wood is selective.
From spores i would suggest agar, but if not, try using a pftek type technique. Make a syringe from the print and innoculate either jars of just striaht woodchips, or a mix of chips, verm and brf to speed things up.
If any of the points germinate and look clean, transfer to peroxidated agar.
Again i will raise the point that just because you are using h202 agar, your still defeating the purpose of sterility if you expose the plates to open air. Contaminant spores will fall on the agar plate and although many may be killed by the h202, some will not and will very much enjoy the conditions when you transfer a wedge to your substrates.
This isnt much of problem with woodlovers, but for mushrooms that require high nutrient substrates contamination is inevitable.

So what would be the easiest way to get azurescens spawn if you have a peroxidated agar culture?

Check out my ceramic oil lamp I made:

I'm going to try to use it as an alcohol lamp, but the insert was made for oil. I'm not sure how well it will work.

peroxided agar culture => sterilized grain => sterilized/pasteurized chip => outdoor bed with more chips
