i have some cyan mycelium on some alder, and want to make a syringe. i chose the honey tek cause i have honey, water, jars and peroxide, and no agar or money for it.
in the agar tek, you can add h2o2 before mycelium to help grow clean mycelium in the agar, but in the honeywater tek, you add the h2o2 AFTER the mycelium colonizes the jars. thus, in the honey tek, you must start off with clean mycelium. im not sure my myceliums cleanliness
is it possible to add h2o2 to honeywater before mycelium, to help with a clean colonization? (of course i will let the honeywater cool before adding anything)
If you are starting from a culture you should have no problem adding H2O2 before adding your culture to the solution.
I actually think it would be comparatively ineffective to add H2O2 after your culture has grown throughout the solution. If contams are present in the culture they are likely to survive because they produce their own peroxidases.
The only advantage I see to adding peroxide post culture is to prevent new contams from colonizing any undigested honey solution once the solution has been used to inoculate.
