Contaminated prints?

Ok... so i have had my success and many many contaminations... mostly from not having a place to do everything.
Anyway my question is about the spore prints i made from outdoor grows. I did not take precautions to keep them as sterile as possible and was wondering if their is anyway to sterilize it for use as a syringe..?
End goal is a LC hopefully.. any help would be great! thanks!
Also i'm thinking of building a glove box for the process to help be more sterile.

Hello,
I am still making prints, and have not had to use one yet, but being able to do this is one reason I am starting to use agar, and why I built a laminar flow hood.
I think that pouring dishes would be pretty hard in a glove box. (but possible I am sure)
I go into all of this because on a petri dish you can spot the good growth and transfer it to a clean dish, and repeat until you have something safe to grow with.
Other than that all I could think of would be to take all of the cleanliness precautions and give it a shot.
Look up sterile syringe teks in the search field above.
There are good ones. I have managed to reuse my spore syringes following these teks.
Good Luck!

Well Agar will show up any contams unlike LC which will look like myc growth as the mold has out sporulated yet.
So Agar is best but you will have to make sure you get everything right (sterile inc area etc..)
But a very simple way to keep your strain is grain LC! You can look for contams before making the LC and the process minimizes the possibility of introduction of contams.

Most effective way to clean wild prints from contaminates is to inoculate agar with your wild print's spores. You can then transfer away clean mycelium from contaminates and inoculate more petri's until you have a clean culture. Transfer clean mycelium away from contaminates inside a glove-box or clear plastic trash bag. I use the trash bag because after one use you just toss it out, no cleaning. Do not clean mycelium away from contaminates in front of a flowhood. A flowhood will blow the contaminate mold spores through out your lab and home. If you must do LC's, there is no better way to inoculate an LC than with a live culture agar wedge. HL

No! Agar is the right tool for this task.
LC from wild print = fail.

Also, UTSE.
Also, asian markets or health food stores.
Also, it's pronounced like 'auger'. Ask for "auger auger".

Asian markets. Stores with science/lab supplies. Online.
Shit even the little shop that sells educational toys for children has it.
