gt clone pinset new pics of non-pinset nature

sorry the pic came out so small, my camera does what it wants.
its a clone from the first fruit of another grow. spawn ratio was high (1:3) and it went cloned fruit--->wbs--->coir/verm/10 grain cereal/coffee with a good squirt of trace minerals. i think it was 1 brick/2 qts/1 pint/1/2 pint. and a 'squirt' is probably a tablespoon, i did 3 10 qt tubs and 1 18 qt tub with that on 7/15
this is the first to pin, and damn! theres not a square inch bare of pins, its almost a sea!

Did you clone a cluster or single fruit.

I'm working with a gt clone myself right now, it's not as spectacular.
Can't wait for harvest pics!

I have some GT a little farther a long right now than you, but not nearly as good as yours. How did you get so many pins?

its my first clone, so i cant say exactly, but i think thats why. i mean theres no non-fruiting strains stuck in there like with ms.
i doubt my pinning strategy is different from the norm, but heres what i do: birth it, stick it in my fc, and block the ultrasonic feed for a day. theres a cieling fan in the room always on low for fae. after it is pretty much dry (when i lightly press the knuckle of a finger to it its just barely damp, not wet) i unblock the feed, and position a short pipe so the fog lands DIRECTLY onto the sub, and let it run on its normal cycle for a few hours, drenching the sub. i sometimes have to tip the tub on its side to drain puddles off if i forget about it and go to work or sleep or something. then i block the feed again for a few hours, letting it dry some, but not as much. i dont want puddles or anything on it at this point. then i put the pvc 90 degree elbow on the feed pipe so it points down, its normal position. then i take the lid and fan it for a full 30 seconds, hard. my cakes and trays and such usually pin within a few days. after that i let my setup do its job, though i usually still fan it a few times a day. it sounds like a lot now that ive written it out, but its really not.
thats what i do and i get compliments on my pinsets anyways, this being a clone just made it that much better.

When I get a pinset like this some of the clusters always stop growing because theirs so many.
Once I dunk it for the 2nd flush they grow and finish

thats what i think will happen too. i read the pins for the second flush is set w/ the first one, right?
would the point of a casing be that these can all mature at once? is it too late to apply one?

Wow. That's a really interesting tip about letting it dry out and then flooding it. I am def going to try that. That pinset is crazy.
Thx.

well, forgetting to change the exhaust and having to drain puddles off is not ideal, just was saying it happens to me sometimes. and after you drench it you want it to return to its normal fruiting state which may involve blocking the intake for a few more hours, keep an eye on it. extra fanning never hurts, either!

i don't use a humidifier. i can't really justify using the electricity when passive system is almost as good.
but the basic concept makes sense. it resembles the pinning strategy they recommend for pans. you apply a relatively dry casing layer and then drench it when you introduce fruiting conditions.
Makes sense that cubes might like it also.

Same sort of idea. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/12002751
The idea of a dry or heat shock really seems to stimulate the shit out of pinning.
Nice looking tub, man. Hopefully I'm at this level soon enough.

that does make sense. the only advantage to using the ultrasonic in this application is a slower 'drench', which i think allows it to absorb a bit more moisture. thats cool, want to try pans soon, good to know ive got a basic pinning strategy in practice.
so, would applying a casing layer make all these pins mature at once? and is it too late?

Cubes don't really benefit from a casing layer. And not all those pins may mature at the same time. Some may mature and some may seem to not, and those ones may be your second flush. There is much debate whether the pins on your later flushes all come in at the same time. some people says that it does and others think not.
Lets put it this way, whatever you did, it worked lol.

thanks guys, i owe a lot to the community, before i came here i was still doing brf cakes in a 10 gallon aquarium w/ a drip shield. looking back im amazed that i had decent success with it, but i had nothing to compare it to either. this ways better.
heres a pic from today, it does seem like a lot of pins stopped growing, but its early.
and this ones just cool.

Takes a lot of water to make that many mushrooms. Mist heavily and/or do a little dunk, maybe.
