Most are still ripening but I had a lot of perfectly ripe raspberries, had to rummage through nettle beds for the good ones; the blackberries are still very tart. How's your, er...?

Joie said: It's been a great weekend for finding libs on my little walks, they are still massively outnumbered by a lot of other mushrooms but I have passed the 100 mark.
Dinner tonight included a Vascellum pratense and lots of raspberries, and I just found some nice Suillus grevillei for breakfast. I feel blessed. To top the weekend off my visitors made pictures using Coprinus ink:

that is cool man!

Plenty of libs to go round, you'll get some! But he beat me to it... this year!
If you found any Psilocybe cyanescens one should be most jealous.

Cyans are native to North America, though. They're so rare here because they're an introduced species. Climate-wise it's pretty much perfect for them here.

What do you think the chances of them in Wales are? My location, mild and very wet. Do they appear only on woodchips or also on natural woods? I know of an area near me where they've put lots of woodchips down. For planted young trees.

Well clearly they can appear on natural wood because the species pre-dates man-made woodchips. They were supposedly introduced from a poorly disposed-of sample at Kew Gardens.

Well I have read that they are almost exclusively found on woodchip beds (in the UK). Apart from a small area in the Epping forest.

I guess the forest in general and maybe surrounding areas. It's certainly worth looking for if you live there when the season comes around. Not too long now I suppose.

I guess I'll bus it up to the Forest itself. Then I can have a little butcher's hook upon arrival.

Hardwood (chippings)
If the chippings are laid fresh Lanceata that would be your best bet as they sap the nutrients and will eventually die away from that particular spot unless fresh chippings (nutrients) are laid down.
(Of course some of you already knew that )
On the lib front, I would have never have thought of hunting early August until I see them being found so early on a thread here last year. In fact i probably wouldn't have even logged on here so early if I hadn't seen them finds.
Almost detoured for a check of my fly agaric nest on way back today but decided against at last min. I know they traditionally appear before libs so considered luck with them. Just to be around such magnificent company again....
Has anyone had a mooch down to the woods as of yet? Is there plenty of non-active growth there?

After seeing this thread I decided to go for a walk and I found this:

Is it a lib cap?
