Same this side.

Was last years season later than usual in the south? I didn't find any until October. Hoping I can find some earlier this year.

Yeah I came across maybe 20 or so on a local cricket field last year, never noticed any on peoples lawns (though I do look as I'm passing by I must admit).

As Ashton said, much greater numbers on fields and moorland obviously.

Planning a camping trip in North Wales at the end of the month, temps there seem to be between 10 - 15 at the moment and they're having quite a lot of rainfull so fingers crossed......:mushroom2:

Yeah without a doubt, had a little look on my dog walk today and there's still nothing on this side of the bridge, way too warm.

Congrats on your find

I'm actually promoting a concert in Newport (Wales) tomorrow night and seriously considering turning the whole day into a hunt. Hmmmmm.

Carry a field guide when you're out picking, if you get stopped by the feds simply explain that you're interested in Mycology as a whole and study it as a hobby all year round.

At this particular time of the year certain genus are more common than others and on this occasion you were searching for Semilanceata (probably best to drop the 'psilocybe').

To be fair thats the gods honest truth in my case.

I've got loads of photos on my phone of mushrooms of all types I've spotted over the year to back the fact I'm interested in Mycology and not just getting wasted eating psilocybe mushrooms. 90% of the police force will confiscate your finds and send you on your way with a verbal warning.

Though it may be heartbreaking to loose a days worth of mushrooms - it's not exactly a hard one to talk your way out of.

Also having a dog helps avoid suspicion!!

Just checked metcheck and it looks as if the weather is gonna remain this warm for the next couple of weeks.

Don't hold much hope for finding anything before mid-september around here (Bristol / Somerset) for the time being.

No actually, I found them right by a river which is in a very low-lying area. I'm currently in the south east (Berkshire).

That's very encouraging!

I've been checking daily in my usual spots everytime I walk the dog but alas, nothing yet. If you found some in Berkshire it's not long til we see them in and around Bristol / Somerset.

Hold tight the South West crew!

Last year was my first season also, I was seriously disheartened all of September and half of October when literally nothing was fruiting (there weren't even any inactives around), then when the season hit it was amazing - I was sticking to my usual dog walking route and finding 500 or so a week.

This year I'm gonna hunt a couple of other spots, I've scouted around and found (what I think are) good locations.

Nothing in my usual field still - I'm agreeing on two weeks or so when the temps have dropped consistently.

Where abouts in the SW are you based Tasara?

Bristol has been stupidly warm over the past two days - after two days of non stop tropical style rain. Freak weather.

I went out yesterday on my day off and clocked about 20 different inactive species, there is definately an abundance of inactives compared to last year - good sign really!

Flippin hell - I just took the dog out and stumbled upon a huge patch of Amantias in my regular lib field. I've been searching for Fly Argaric for ages in all the woodlands where I live and found nothing, then after throwing my dogs ball into a corner of the field I rarely go in I stumble upon about eight!

Nope. Still don't think I'll be seeing libs around Bristol for another week or so (at minimum) tbh.

I wish everyone who posted in this thread set a location in their profile.

Anyhow, very warm in the South West of late, still holding out for another week or so before I go on a proper hunt.

Why?

I can understand specific locations not being asked as thats just plain obvious and something that is made clear in the forum rules.

Asking which part of a county / region someone lives in is fine. Obviously people are curious as to which areas of the UK are (or have been) fruiting.

I've been on tour all week so not even had the chance to go dog walking / check my spots. I'm back tomorrow night so planning on heading out on Saturday morning.

By all accounts it's been really warm in the SOUTH WEST over the past week, I've been keeping an eye on Metcheck and it's not in the 10-15 range as yet so not too hopefull just yet.

That being said, i'll be having a thorough look on Saturday morning!!!

As usual, if anyone has had luck in the SOUTH WEST then let me know. I'll be reporting back after Saturdays trip.
