cotton balls on the lids

i see alot of grain jars with cotton ball lookin deals sticking from the lid, how do i do this, and do i need a seperate innoc hole, or do i use the coton ball hole?

Its pollyfill not cotton . If you use cotton you will definitally get contams

is it okay to use polyfill in the holes of 1/2 pint jars?
I have only seen it used with larger jars, but it seems like it would work for smaller ones too?

eh, if you're talking about pf jars then no, the verm layer fulfils the same purpose. if you're talking about grain jars then yes.

Yep, works fine. I don't recommend it for BRF/verm mixtures however.

Because it's unnecessary. The verm layer acts as a filter and adding more filtration is overkill.
