Yes. You can fruit morels by growing out the sclerotia, then after letting the sclerotia sit for a few months, hydrate and place into peat/verm with activated carbon. Don't transfer the grains, only the sclerotia. I'm sure there's better ways to do it, but this is one.
I was working with someone else at the time, so the pictures became his by terms of our agreement. They've already been put into print elsewhere. RR

The stone is completely surrounded by the 'casing'. Just keep it moist.
Definitely a novelty grow. Not commercial. At least not this method. RR

Ok so the search goes on mauhahahaahha
been working out other ideas, with totaly different methods. We get the sclerotia formation on the substrate. But taking it from there is the next unknow step.
Do the fruits look normal?

Yes. Separate the sclerotia from the substrate and allow them to dry partially. Then, rehydrate and place in various mediums until you find one that fruits well. The morels will come right out of the sclerotia, not any myc that emerges. We had one fruiting that came from dumping ashes from the charcoal grill onto the substrate, but were unable to duplicate it in the limited time we had. To the best of my knowledge, cooking charcoal is not 'activated'. RR

I have had fits with charcoal, due to differing Ph of the types.
Also, you need to use Ph strips, rather than a meter.
Here is an article about some of the issues.

Activated charcoal is made by boiling charcoal in a dilute acid solution to "activate" it.
Washing it multiple times with water using vacuum filtration to make things easy should solve the pH problem.
Also, maybe check the pH of pharmaceutical grade activated charcoal? I think it is required by law to be free of acid traces to sell for human consumption?
