Read up a bit more on pressure cookers dude... What you set your stovetop to is not going to change a 15 p.s.i. pressure cooker to anything else but 250 degrees. Unless you don't set it high enough to start a boil, or let it boil dry. Turn your stove on high to begin with until the PC is pressurized. After that turn the heat down to avoid losing too much moisture.

there are ways to set the pressure cooker. the one i have has different valves for different psi's. there are different ones for 5, 10, and 15 psi. some pressure cookers don't have different settings and only go to 10 psi. if you bought one of those (and it sounds like you may have), return it. it doesn't matter what temperature you set your stove to.

WalMart in my own only carries non-adjustable PCs - mostly 10 p.s.i. models, but I picked up one that's fixed at 15 p.s.i. so to the original poster: read the manual and see if your model is 15 p.s.i. If it is great, and good luck.
