YOU CANNOT PETITION THE LORD WITH PRAYER

"And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him." -Matthew 6:7-8
Think there'll ever be a form of Xianity that listens to Jesus? Can't be called Christian though, that word's been shat on for too long.

I mean shit, dude. I opened that book up for the first time less than four months ago and pretty immediately realized that nobody is taking the supposed founder of that religion seriously. How do people spend years studying that shit and not realize the things I've realized? It's not even complicated in the slightest. You just have to realize that the direct source is the one that knows what it's talking about, and that the preachers and religious officials are diluted interpretations of that.

But most important:
“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.” -Buddha
Nothing worth believing will ever contradict this^

Very well said. I work with a lot of people that use the word Christian as an almost curse word, or badge of hypocrisy. They, and those they associate with the term, as you said, have no idea what they are talking about.

I used to call myself a Messianic Jew. That only works if you are Jewish to begin with. Then, the other messianic Jews and Jews For Jesus were too 'Jewish' for my liking. I began calling myself a Jewish Christian, emphasis on the Christian. It feel uncomfortable to use either terms now because I'm an apostate to the Jews and a heretic to Christians. So, I used Jewish-Christian Gnostic, but that's a mouthful and sounds too contrived, too complicated for the average person, especially having never heard the word Gnostic. I am, at the moment, wearing a Zazzle shirt which says GNOSTIC, and underneath: Far Beyond Belief. It's relatively new, but Miamians are sensate people. Nobody will look, think and ask. So it's for my own statement to a non-reflective universe of Hylic humans. I suppose I need to simply say, "I'm a follower of The Way." That's what the early Christians said of themselves before the word Christian was used. The Way, like the meaning of the Chinese word Tao.

Prayer is treated as a time to listen to god in catholic and orthodox christianity. In theory anyway.

I guess if anything I'd call myself Unitarian Universalist, based on what I just read:
Quote:
Unitarian Universalism is a religion characterized by support for a "free and responsible search for truth and meaning." Unitarian Universalists do not share a creed; rather, they are unified by their shared search for spiritual growth and by the belief that an individual's theology is a result of that search and not obedience to an authoritative requirement. Unitarian Universalists draw on many different theological sources and have a wide range of beliefs and practices. -Wiki
That goes hand-in-hand with Buddha's quote in my previous post pretty well. UUism is incredibly vague, which is largely the point I think.
Feeling the need to categorize oneself often leads to over-considering one group's mentality while under-considering all other group mentalities, especially for those who are less mentally capable and/or would rather be told what to believe than make the mental effort of discovering truth for oneself. Wisdom and intelligence is in many ways an understanding of connections, of what two distinct ideas have in common. The more ideas you are open to, the more connections you will make in your understanding, and the deeper you will get into the root of where all ideas emerge from: you, the human brain.
The deeper you get into these roots, the more easily you'll be able to discern which ideas stem from an honest quest for truth, and which ideas stem from ignorance, greed, and fear, which are the roots of 'evil'.

I like the term (if I have to use one, I hate adjectives) Messianic. It denotes that I believe in the Messiah, and the message of salvation he/she brings, but it gives no allegiance whatsoever to any pre-established interpretation, or institution that claims exclusive rights to the teachings of the Messiah.

I have looked into the Unitarian Universalist Church closest to me. I think that if I were to join a church, it might well be this denomination.

The Church of the Presumptuous Assumption of the Blinding Light! Icelander, "it's gonna be all-right...Ha Ha Ha Ha...You bet! "I'm Deacon E.L. Mouse [El Topo]"
"I'm down, I'm grounded, safe and sound, trailing trails of glory I'm down, and I'm hungry," which is good 'cause we're waiting for a Mrs. Smith's blackberry pie, so "Let's eat!" "It's good to eat a friend my friend."

I'm not talking about hate. I'm talking about eight. Dinner at eight. So let's eat! The Mighty Hot Dog is our Lord.
