Metal went to shit after these "Deathcore/screamo" idiots came out. I still enjoy me some Metallica and Iron maiden though.

i used to love between the buried and me, they got too repetitive
Mataspore check this out.. blast beats can kill my interest in a metal band but they can be used well
for example this band know when to use them
3:15 - 3:30 is so perfectly placed

cradle of filth haven't put out any real quality for the better part of a decade I think. same with dimmu borgir. all the old stuff was great, then it just went downhill.

Periphery - The Walk
This band is awesome. They put out an album with vocals and everyone hated it so they released it instrumentally. Similar to Meshuggah and Animals as Leaders but IMO a bit better. Some really cool parts. EPIC to listen to while working out or running.
I've been listening to mainly Stoner stuff like Kyuss lately.
I've yet to find trippier Metal.

sleep is the shit. not many people are into them. they're basically the spiritual successors to black sabbath. think they only put out 2-3 albums.

I'll have to check out Om more. Are they overly religious? I know one of their albums is titled "God is Good" or something similar. But yeah I listen to a lot of Stoner been digging on...
