I'm not very much into comics anymore, but the walking dead has always managed to somehow maintain my attention for the past four or five years since I found out about it. It's about 75 issues deep at this point, and plenty of trade paperbacks out already as well encompassing larger amounts of issues in each. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't yet. here's the entire first issue on the internets free. http://www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album.php?gid=1358
AMC has also picked up the walking dead as a series, filming now, and Frank Darabont is directing/producing. Shawshank Redemption + zombies. starts to air in october.

I had a friend lend me the first booklet and it was pretty damn good. I ended up downloading the rest but I hate reading off of the computer so I haven't read the rest yet.

I just started over reading the series again. I only have books of the first 48 issues though so I have to read the latter 25 or so on the interwebs which i kinda hate.

yeah demonoid has the whole series thus far. soooo worth getting. also they just released a compendium volume 1 last year, which is this first 48 issues. costs like $30 at most bookstores. there's also 6 to 12 issues trades you can buy as well. well worth supporting since the comics industry isn't doing as well as it has in the past. certainly not independent publishers like this company. so spend a little money on some trades or something if you like it. reading a book is much more bearable than reading issues on a computer screen, for sure. the physical qualities of turning pages and such are nice too.

For sure. A few years back I used to buy books and magazines and the occasional graphic novel/comic.
If I cant torrent something, I go to the library. If it ain't there, I do without. Hard times. You'd be surprised though, what is at the library.

They usually order whatever you want.
Frankly, I should take advantage of it more frequently.
It is a fantastic service.

Oh man. My friend picked up the first 4 or 5 books around Feb/March. They were a great read, I really enjoyed them. He hasn't been able to find any more on sale though so I haven't been able to mooch off him. Pretty awesome that they're making a series out of it though (assuming it turns out decent).

issue 75 came out today. had a bunch of new images from the TV show in it. I think they're having comiccon in LA or something this week so there will hopefully be actual footage from the show soon, but they put out more production/behind the scenes with the author Robert Kirkman:
and they made the first issue into a motion comic:

here you go folks, best of, as of today, the only footage of the upcoming show based on the comic so far. pretty tame but comic con is an all ages thang. so enjoy this and pick out similarities with the comic. I'm only more and more excited for october every new thing I see or read.

I'm caught up. May end up buying this one monthly. And I haven't bought a comic since the early nineties. LoL. It's pretty intense. Looking forward to the AMC six episode series this October. =] I can see why it's won 2 consecutive Eisner's for best ongoing series. Great book!

Is there any way that you can order this comic and get it in the mail, like the paper version? i cant seem to find it at any comic book stores around my area.
