It might be a cereus peruvianus, but I can't tell for sure.

If the old spines are a whitish, brownish-tan color, and the young spines up top are kind of a dark brown-maroon color, then it might be a peruvianus. The pattern of the ridges just doesn't look quite right to me. But yours is more mature than mine is. Its definitely in the trichocereus family tho. You should post a brighter picture of it.

I'm no expert, but it just doesn't look quite right for a cereus peruvianus to me.

This might help a little bit. I got this T. peruvianus a while back as a 10 inch cutting, but like I said, it's a lot smaller and more tender than yours. Look at the Lycaeum and see if you can ID yours using any of their identification tools. Good luck!

Well the reason I don't think its a t. peruvianus is the spine color. T. Peruniavus typically has yellow spines, whereas my cactus has grey spines fading to dark brown/black at the tips, and white areoles. Cereus peruvians has many variations, and one of them looks just like my cactus (although It seems like a different generus and species, most likely Trichoserus).
