Monotub Chamber?
    #12892826 - 07/13/10 01:20 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

So while I'm waiting for the supplies I ordered for my first grow (Mostly the PC) I've been spending my time reading, reading, reading, and when I can, fucking around with what I can and I've been looking into different fruiting chambers, specifically, monotubs look really attractive right now.

The Problem:  I don't have polyfill for a monotub chamber.

The Solution:  Use tyvek.  Since tyvek isn't as good at allowing air to pass through, use more tyvek, specifically twice as many tyvek-covered holes as polyfill-filled holes that most of the teks use.  If this isn't good enough, place a fan a few feet away to shoot air at the tub.

Is this something that would work?  Or should I just stop being so god damned lazy and buy myself some polyfill?

though tyvek works....stop being lazy ...since if this is your new hobby.. laziness will be a bad habit...and you will reap what you sow...

also ...you can purchase polyfill at your local petshop.... you can find bags of it near the fish filter area 3-5 bucks a bag.....:bobmarley:

Buy a pillow, polyfil is easier and foolproof. Do not use a fan in front of your mono: you don't want your substrate to be dried up by the air flow

I don't use polyfill or tyvek in my monotubs.  I just drill holes, shotgun FC style, all around my tubs, just above the substrate line.  Never had a problem, check my posts for pics.

I suppose you are right.  I think my current laziness stems from it being ungodly hot out lately.  Once fall comes back around I'll be more open to wandering the city in search of supplies.  Thanks though.

A second question that I'd like to add.  Have you found that its better to use polyfill for lids or is tyvek fine since its not as much of an issue as it is when fruiting?

i think that you thought that he was talking about spawn jars.

i dont think tyvek on a monotub would be such a good idea.
