Can't you just case everything in these plastic bins and then just put the bin (on top of perlite) into a rubbermaid tub?

And I do. No perlite either. Monotub with poly stuffed holes, put a tub in and leave it.

cheaper meaning a larger surface area of space for a better price, not necessarily cheaper than a dollar.

sorry bro bit i have to call you out on this its a common misconception "rust" is a word that has lost its virgin meaning
3. Can stainless steel rust? Why? (I thought stainless did not rust!)
Answer: Stainless does not "rust" as you think of regular steel rusting with a red oxide on the surface that flakes off. If you see red rust it is probably due to some iron particles that have contaminated the surface of the stainless steel and it is these iron particles that are rusting. Look at the source of the rusting and see if you can remove it from the surface. If the iron is embedded in the surface, you can try a solution of 10% nitric and 2% hydrofluoric acid at room temperature or slightly heated. Wash area well with lots and lots of water after use. Commercially available "pickling paste" can also be used. See "The Care and Cleaning of Stainless Steel" for more information.*** source***

This should never be done by an amateur. Heating acids is VERY dangerous business. Nitric Acid and Hydrofluoric Acid are both highly corrosive! They can also both poison your body if not handled correctly. While nitric acid alone can turn your skin yellow, the fumes could kill you. Nitric can give off these fumes without introducing anything else to the equation, but if it comes in contact with certain metals it's over. The reddish fumes will come in waves. These fumes are actually nitrogen dioxide which can cause edema (your lungs filling with fluid). Different metals and some organics can also trigger nitric to explode or catch fire. Hydrofluoric on the other hand, can be a silent killer. Once it comes in contact with skin it penetrates very fast and since it attacks nerve functioning, you may not even know you've been poisoned until you go into cardiac arrest from it doing a number on the calcium in various parts of your body. SOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I'd go with the black plastic tubs.....

to Jokefox: LOL!!!
to Fungal Growth: Yeah, some people are dumb as hell or just tired of living, sounds like. I use nitric acid, quite a bit, for gold recovery. I can't believe some people's lack of respect for a substance that could kill them.
