Rye Jars maybe little to dry?

My pet rock Stoner his friend tried some Rye Jars and innoculated 5 quart jars 2cc per jar , yes was alot but it wanted 100% growth , anyways the jar looked allright from the pics of other peoples jars after PC'ing but after 11 days no signs of life and kernels on top and sorta on the sides look little to dry.  Is there need for concern of the dry kernels?  Could water sterilized be added to bring up moisture any thoughts on any of this? To early for growth at 11 days to see in jars?

If you have no sign of growth after this long you may not see any. I have had some jars go very slow however so I would wait. adding more water is not a good idea. Start some more jars.

I hope that made sense, the screen keeps moving around and my hands feel a bit seperated from my body right now.

Is your temp at 84 degrees?

Yes jars are at optimum temp, cant really figure why its taking so long with no growth.

Doesn't sound good...something is wrong.

This is how I do my Rye Quart jars.

250 ml of Rye.
210 ml of water.

Use some kind of filter disc. or polyfil...I use Tyvek home made filters!
I make one hole in the middle of the lid....and a small hole off to one side.
The middle is for air exchange...the smaller one is for inoculation.
I tape both holes up.

Let the jars sit for 24 hours for the endo-spores to germinate.

Then pressure cook at 15 psi for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Let it cool down for a couple hours...then shake the jars up real good.

Let them totally cool down.....before inoculating.

Then I clean my syringe needle with alcohol....then shoot 3 cc of spores or liquid mycelium threw the small hole in the jar lid.
I then cover the small hole with a small round bandaid.
Then shake the jar up really good.

Wait til the jars start to show some colonization then pull the tape off the middle hole...this will increase the speed of colonization.

Dont get to angry but used several coffee filters, in a styrofoam cooler, in a room with a $600 HEPA air cleaner.  Yes should have got the filters made for the job but at the time...........time was the essence and we thought we didnt have much time.. Go Figure
Do you think that would cause this to happen by using that, contam would be issue they might have??  :confused:

Nah, I've had great success with rye jars: Do what I did and you'll be fine:

5 Cups Rye (organic)
spring water

put rye in a big pot, cover with spring water, make sure the rye is submerged at least 1 inch all the time.
bring pot to a boil, then simmer for 45 mins or until you see exploded kernels.
STRAIN THE RYE until there is not 1 drip of water left. this is the biggest part of messing up.
when you're done with straining, spoon them into your quart jars, approx 2 cups each jar is good.
use whatever filtration technique you have and screw the lids on.
PC for 90 minutes.
take the jars out of the PC, shake em up, wait until they are cooled (overnight is usually recommended), the innoc

you should see germination within 8-15 days
