I have been told the poo you can buy in the nurseries is useless (in the U.S.) but some of the posts from those of us here in the U.K. seems to indicate that the compost that can be bought is preety good. Is it? Which is best? Should I still pasturise the compost? How do you know if there is enough straw in there? Do you add more?

First..this is NOT advanced.
------------------
You can add straw to it or why not pelletsilizer straw..
Wait until spring or go to the nearest farm and pick some off of the ground..that is the absolute best shit!

peace...

Im using homebases "Blended farm yard manure"(its horse shit and straw shredded and compssted)and mixxing in a bit of fresh straw with it,i also add a bowl of brown rice flour as it cant hurt .
You will still need to sterilize or pasturise it as its still got contam risks but i would guess farm yard self collected stuff has more contams. This stuff is composted in huge piles so the inner temps get pretty high and they turn it regular, but to be safe cook or pc it
Unsure why people say shop bought poo is usless as there cant be a huge difference apart from shop bought has been composted(But i thought this was benifical)Go for the stuff used for rose growing as its fresher than the more composted ones avalible but still composted a little.

the rice flour should be sterilized but not the compost.  That should be pasturized.  I doing bulk work anyway.  I am just going to be using shroomgods Strawtek but with the poo aditions that mycophile added. When you said to be safe I should "cook" it did you mean pasturise?  Thanx for the help though.  Now I know where to go and what to get.
