syringe making questions..
    #1287385 - 02/07/03 03:12 AM (21 years, 14 days ago)

im bored and want to take a shot at making a few syringes...i plan on using syringes that ive used already..how should i clean the old syringes i am thinking about boiling some water and sucking up water, spiting it out and repeating a few times ..what i was wondering is would i be able to fill the syringe up and then pressure cook it (with the boiled water)? or would i have to pc it without water in it? ive read some teks but i want to be as sterile as possible , i dont have a glove box so can i use the oven tek?

And the answer is:YES

Syringes are made of polypropylene and perfectly pressure cookable.

i have never PC'd a syringe so i dunno if that works without fuckering the syringe. what I do is get a fairly large (wide enough that syringes with plungers pulled back can float around) pot boiling (maybe 1.5" of water in there). I boil the syringes at a rolling boil for like 2 minutes. i turn down the heat so that it is still boiling but bubbles aren't coming up all over the bottom (if you have sucked water in that is at a rolling boil you'll know why). then take the syringes one at a time and pull water into the chamber and squirt it out a coupla times. (oh, yeah, i have my syringe caps floating int here too) (oh, yeah, and i use regular ole tongs to do the handling, the syringe plastic isn't hot once you get it out of the water). on the last suck-in do it slowly and avoid the bubbles coming off the bottom, you don't want air in there. if you do ge air in pont the needle straight up and tap the syringe to get the bubble to the top and plunge to rid the air and then top it off with more water. I then hold the needle under the water while i get a cap out and shake it off with the tongs, then in one quick move I remove the needle from under the water and slip on the cap. once they are all done I give quick burst of lysol into a baggie, put them in there and place that in the fridge. now you have sterile syringes with sterile water inside.

words to live by, the reality is that this would only be true if EVERYONE felt this way. when a person or persons makes money important it affects us and therefore the money IS important (think government). but this mindset is what we all need to have. if EVERYONE felt/lived this way it would be true/glorious. i try to do my part. sorry for the OT but that struck me so.

Perhaps I'm just old fashioned but I've never had a problem by just boiling mine for 15 mins in a saucepan..
