This is a secure private message.

So I have been asked to set this up. I also have sent a pm to some members and I can't because they have this set up.

What is it and what does it do?

Thanks

You can setup your account with to send and receive encrypted private messages.  The public/private keys are encrypted with your Secure-PM password which is not stored anywhere.  The PM system takes care of the details, but the messages remain encrypted until you enter your Secure-PM password to decrypt them.  Coupled with SSL, this makes PMs that you send nearly impossible for somebody, other than the recipient, to read via.  (The likely exceptions are keyloggers installed locally on your computer, or somebody forcing you to tell them your password.)

One point to note... The private key is stored on your computer.  Don't lose it, it can't be recovered and you'll lose your messages.  You also can't read your messages without the private key, so you have to bring it with if you're going to use another computer to check messages.

Unless they are important, I like deleting my key once and awhile and having everything purged off the system, unrecoverable to anybody.  Keeping your keys switched up is maximum security.
