Mushrooms galore! What might they be? Any Edibles?
    #12855491 - 07/06/10 08:39 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

Habitat:SW Florida, mixed forest, pine, scrub oak, palm, bamboo. VERY wet!

Here we go-

Growing in ground, orange color, always seem to be covered in bugs. Seem to be everywhere, I wish they were chanterelle but believe they are false Chanterelles?
#2

Some type of Bolete, 3.5" dia., growing in ground, all white, pores show rust colored bruising from older damage, no immediate bruising, stem base hollow, several in area. Maybe an edible?
#3

Same area, near scrub oak and palmetto, growing in ground in a cluster of three, 5" tall, very thick, no volva apparent, no bruising, no real odor.
#4

Same area, growing in ground, 2.5" tall, cap 1.5" dia., no bruising, pic shows gill attachment.
#5

Same area, obviously a bolete, immediate blue bruising, 5" tall, smooth red cap, approx 3.5" dia, yellow underside, thick cream colored stem with rusty streaks.
#6

A couple I think I know;

#7 Pear shaped puffballs?

#8 The sickener? (Russula Emetica)

And finally a couple that I didn't get very good pictures or descriptions of-

Growing on a recently burned palm tree-
#9

Growing on the ground in a place that was too wet for me to crawl in and get a better look-
#10

So that's it. What did I find? Anything exciting? Edible?

I left em' all in the woods this time, eventually when I learn more I will bring some home for spore prints and hopefully one day, dinner!

After a little more research I think #2 might be some sort of lactarius? The gill spacing seems too wide for False Chanterelle. Maybe edible after all.

Don't mean to bump my own thread but I am wondering why I have gotten no responses. I tried to post as much info as possible as well as clear photos.

Just don't want to make the same mistakes in the future.

All I know is your Boletus are the same ones I've been finding all over the place.  Apparently they are edible and inactive.

I'm about to post a bunch of pics from my trip to the park yesterday.  I'm becoming much more familiar with what is around here and what it is.  Bout to get a little more familiar.

no. 1 definately looks like a gomphidus to me.
2. is definately not a chanterelle, but mat by hygrophoropsis aurantiaca
4. look like hypomyces sp. on some other mushrooms
5. looks like a cortinarius
8. is not r. emetica, but is a russula
10. looks like a hygrocybe
