the world is flat.

i wonder what it would have been like, living long ago. they had an understanding of the world so very different than the one we now have. just think for a moment... how different your world would be if you didn't know what the sky was (you'd have an explanation of course, but not like we have now)... or thought the earth was flat. crazy. when i see a fire burning, i know that a chemical reaction is taking place. what did an ancient person think of fire? they didn't know that stars are balls of hydrogen fusing into helium, but that they were just up there and they were light and came out at night... and what is nightime to them? things must have been so different before people had science to explain everything.

there are many groups of people today that we (north americans) could never comprehend.
imagine being a palistinian or arabian....
there are many people that think (BELEIVE) things i could never comprehend
The RAELIANS were handing out pamphlets at my school recently.
they think you can live forever. they think they can teleport people.
If they teleport me somewhere.. ill follow rael anywhere
so far nothings happened
i guess you implied more widely held beliefs..............how about catholisism?

-really?

I dont feel the need to follow anyone, I know what I need to know. I dont want to make anyone realize what I know., But I do want them to realize what they know.

Well thank you it has taken me complete deprogramming. It was long and painful road as sappy as it sounds! but when I realized I know NOTHING.. It hit me hard I do know one thing and it is everything.. but well that is for each human being to discover(How convenient eh?)

my worst enemies have always been deception and Hypocrisy

while my friends were logic and faith...the right balance is what helped ...is helping me

If you take away the advances in transportation and technology, life really wouldn't be that different. I mean it wouldn't really be any different. What is the sky to you? When I see a fire I see a source of light and heat. I know that there is a chemical reaction going on, but it doesn't make a difference, because there is much more to fire than that. Same goes for a star, I never view stars as just balls of hydrogen fusing into helium. They are beatiful entities, that I am thankful to have the joy of laying eyes upon. My point: Our scientific knowledge really doesn't truly change the fact that stars are balls of light. Its fascinating to know about their chemical properties, but that doesn't stop me from speculating about them. Science can fool us into thinking we know everything about physical reality, because it blocks our minds from wondering about the beauty and mystery of the universe.

yes, to some extent. but i do think that my world is very, very different than the hunter gatherer who didn't have science to "explain" everything, and didn't "know" as many things.

And just imagine that people might have discussions like this in 50 years, about people like us not being able to fully comprehend all of the developments that have changed the world since that time

--------------------
The above is an extract from my fictional novel, "The random postings of Edame".

In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience.

And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him.

"Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.

i am certainly not a follower. my point was that if they could teleport me (entirely impossible physical possibility) it would be miraculous. it would give the unprovable the possibility of truth. say, like the existance of god or other things people have "faith" that are real or in this case Rael
logic and reason, something humans need to discover
