Looks like he was grafting some Mammillaria and maybe Tephrocactus there.  Most likely will work on Lophophora since other species of Opuntia will work as well.  It seems like you can graft to just about any Opuntia but there's a matter of picking which is the most convenient to work with.

the fragilis I have only have fairly large spikes, if trimmed they are easy to do deal with when it comes to grafting, and I have done it a few times.

hehe,the skinny type.They are still sitting outside in cardboard boxes.I think I may plant them around the complex today:grin:
