Hey guys
Ive been for a few hunts latley over the last month or so in Canterbury, New Zealand and Ive found enough subs to count on one hand, spaced between multiple hunts. I've been told that it's probably to late in the season here. However i'd like to be optimistic lol and reassured. For those of you that don't know the climate here its around 10 degrees every day at the moment and vary's between -4 to 4 degrees celcius overnight and is more than 85% humidity(which i hear is good). It's also just started winter this month.
Basically what I'd like to know is am I completely out of luck? Are there pockets where for instance if the temperature stays a few degrees over 0 for a few days I may be in luck and finally how long do subs take to fruit on average. Ive dredged the internet and journal databases but haven't been able to find much info. Also all other New Zealand threads for subs either don't give a rough indication if its on either island (climates vary greatly, north semi tropical-south alpine) and the ones that do disclose location are mainly in the north island and Auckland more specifically.
Thanks

Hunt at least 6 hours a day, every day.

Maybe but they will still be around in certain places.

That is pretty cool. We just started summer.
I think I like winter better though.

You must be hallucinating. There are no threads that disclose the exact location. Everyone on shroomery always follows the rules and none of our users would ever consider breaking them.

Hey thanks. No i'm not hallucinating, other people do indeed put in there location in Auckland, New Zealand and more precise locations than that. Look in the New Zealand actives 2010 thread people have been running if you disagree. Ok I suppose the last logical question then is it more efficient to give up til next year, earlier in fall when frosts have only just started falling, if I'm only prepared to go out for a couple hours once or twice a week every other week?

Season generally ends around Late July - Early August over here in NSW, temps are colder than yours atm + I'm still finding plenty of Subaeruginosa - even high up in the mountains where it is snowing
Keep hunting for at least another month, as Alan said above - Persistence is the key, hunt as much as you can!
